anyway @swboyd your drive by pot shots at deafheaven for no reason actively make this thread and any metal adjascent thread extremely extremely upsetting to visit when youve been through there, i get you dont like them but literally nobody else is as relentless about anything they dont like the way you are, most normal people just ignore and move on. im probably just gonna stop posting in any thread you're in. ive never seen someone who regularly claims to like most of the parts of their songs be so fucking nasty about a band.

truthfully, if you have any issues with my posts, pm me. i'm happy to talk it over there. i did not mean anything malicious by this. i've said this time and time again in this thread and on this site - i'm opinionated, i'll make jokes about bands that i don't particularly like or enjoy, but it's all intended to be in good fun. if this creates a hostile environment for you, i'm truly sorry. i like you guys and like this community, but all of this was just intended to be good fun.

well, again, if it's truthfully bothering you that much, i'll drop it and be silent from subsequent discussions about deafheaven on this site in the general metal thread/deafheaven general thread/album threads about them unless i have something constructive to say about them. i know my sense of humor can be grating at times, but like i said, it's never been intended to piss anyone off or trigger anyone.

and to anyone else who's been put off by this and thinks i've turned this thread into a hostile place, feel free to PM me and we can talk it out. i shy away from conflict so much in real life and try to be as welcoming as possible to all...sometimes that's hard when i have strong opinions about things. i love y'all dudes and dudettes. this place is my go to site to kill time when i'm working my shitty desk job, and it really does hurt to know that that i may do anything to actually tick you off.

People get really defensive about bands around here I noticed. I personally like giving my friends shit about bands I don't like. It's all in good fun!

 

That's my general sentiment in this, but at the same time, I can understand how it can be off-putting if people are being snarky and taking potshots towards certain bands in general. I know sometimes it can get out of line, and people can get offended - which is never my intention. That's why I never direct my shitposts at specific people (unless they're Tim Lambesis/Phil Ansemo levels of shithead).

Ghost is fine/fun as long as I think of them like Kiss or something. It's a spectacle that just adds another layer to their live performance if you're into that.

 

r/Metal - Shreddit's Top 5 of 2018

Here's where shreddit is at the halfway point of the year. Tomb Mold is unsurprisingly at the top. I really like that Ripped to Shreds album, it's probably my favorite death metal release of the year so far. Interesting to see Slugdge still come out strong and Judas Priest in the top 10. Pretty solid list. Reminded me that I need to listen to Torture Rack and Cosmic Church again.

 

Decibel doesn't fuck around with these festivals. That Celtic Frost set.

 

Well yeah if people are purposely being real assholes then that's a whole other thing. Yeah i agree.. im very sarcastic so I can understand how it can be off putting to people who don't know me and think I'm serious
