Grabbed Friday and Saturday tix for celebration. Guess it’s selling way faster than previous years.

It being more central rather than on a coast probably adds to that.

That's not much in the way of actual story details, but anything that goes further into de-mystifying the force sounds pretty bad.

I talked myself into wanting Boba Fett after Maul's appearance in Solo. It would have been cool to see them explore the underworld further. But as long as Rian Johnson's trilogy is still a go, I'm okay with this move.

    Here’s more info:
Collider.com is exclusively reporting that Disney and Lucasfilm have paused pre-production on the Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff in order to focus on J.J. Abrams’ Episode IX and the next series of Star Wars films, be it Rian Johnson’s trilogy or new movies from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. This comes on the heels of the disappointing box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was released in May in the middle of a crowded summer movie season, rather than in December. Solo arrived six months after The Last Jedi, and Lucasfilm needs to keep Star Wars movies feeling like can’t-miss events. Lucasfilm’s development process is notoriously mysterious, so this is simply a snapshot of where things stand right now in the Star Wars universe. Steve Weintraub and Jeff Sneider offer their thoughts on this breaking news and explore what it will mean for the Star Wars franchise.

There is a video on the Collider channel if you’re curious. I’m wondering if this is related at all to the Fox deal? Or is it a reaction to Solo?

I’m wondering if someone who was working on the Boba film leaked that info to try and drum up support for it and knew that this decision was coming.

It's possible. But I doubt this would be happening if Solo were doing better at the box office.

Of course, it's also in the realm of possibility that these really are just "on pause" and will resume at a later date (that seems unlikely though).

  19. Solo was not very good, Rogue one was just okay. Both are far below TFA and TLJ.

Maybe narrowing the focus will increase the quality of whatever they put out.

Not surprised. Perhaps Star Wars just isn't meant to be milked. I'm fine with waiting a few years for episode films with nothing in between.

Not every franchise needs to be Marvel and in all honesty, if the MCU wasn't doing well in 2012 then I doubt Lucasfilm and Disney would have tried to throw in Rogue One and Solo.

I mean I’m all for quality over quantity, but there’s a ton of potential for spin off stories to be good.

Solo was just a godawful choice that everyone agreed would be a bad choice from the beginning.

There is potential for spin-offs and many of them have been written over decades but Disney/Lucasfilm immediately got rid of them and just threw in two ideas just because they thought they would sell. Marvel has interconnected films with characters coming in and out of them while the Star Wars spin-offs just seemed to be there and that doesn't give people incentive to watch them when Marvel is already supplying any cinematic universe desires they have. I would rather just have cinematic episodes and leave the spin-offs for TV.

The article specifically says the Rian Johnson Trilogy and the Benioff and Weiss are still a go.

Are Benioff and Weiss the two guys from GOT that are writing a spin-off? I'll edit my post.
