I have no doubt that you know more about the inner workings of the industry than I do, but you come off as very condescending and fairly toxic pretty frequently. I think it's emblematic of a lot of the negativity that people associate with the gaming community at large

I'm still fascinated by the fact that I can jump from one platform to another and you just seem to be less concerned with the fun of it all and more interested in ripping into people that you think know less than you, just an observation

Haha I suppose you could say that. I just get very heated when it comes to certain things. I have a lot of friends who work in the industry and I've helped out on some projects and so I hear about this kind of thing all the time. I don't like seeing what it does to the industry and the community and the quality/types of games we get in response. Do people think the rise of micro transactions is unrelated? Do people not realize studios close and others get rearranged and absorbed into others because of stuff like this? Granted, it's not the primary reason, that's obvious, but it plays a factor.

There are a lot of gamers who feel so entitled. It's frustrating.

I wanted to give my uncle a noogie for voting Nintendogs over Super Mario World in a Nintendo bracket but that’s the extent of my video game anger

    Hmm...

It's just clearly something I have to work on and that's on me and I do apologize. It's easy for me to get carried away with things I feel very strongly about and that's still no excuse. I will try to work on it. I'm sorry.

I don't mind you but I can see youre fairly new to the site, everyone who posts on this thread clearly has a passion for games so the best thing to know is people inevitably are going to disagree with you and if you just mark them off as ignorant and they are wrong and you are right, you won't last a long time dude.

It's honestly a really bad habit of mine I've been trying to work on for a while now. I have trouble putting my views about something I'm passionate about into words and because I want my ideas to be heard or maybe even convince someone, I just start conflict and act aggressive. It's sad, but it's almost like "who can yell the loudest will be heard the most" and that's really shitty of me.

@slowheart, I am really sorry. That was uncalled for and just because you have a different opinion doesn't mean I should treat you that way.

If Gamestop disappears, I can't say I'll miss it.

I have some good friends who work there, but otherwise I agree. It would be nice to see things go more digital. At least for me. I don't like clutter.

I would feel terrible about people losing their jobs, but everyone I know that works there is above the treatment that company force upon employees.

I worked at Gamestop while going to school. Still the most fun I've ever had at a job. The DM was a complete ass though. AND the pay suuuuuucked.

Everyone rags on the trade in values, while yes, they suck...you're not being forced to trade in your games haha.

  16. I worked there for two years and it was the worst job experience I’ve ever had.

It was probably the only place I worked where I didn’t feel like a humanbeing lol

lol people treated us like dirt in there. the DM treating us like dirt didnt help either.

But I worked with a bunch of my closest friends at the time so we always made our shifts fun. Having someone there to cheer you up after a terrible customer experience was a life saver.

That's my exact sentiment. The company has a sort of rating system for their stores. I can't remember what it's called, but let's just say there are bronze stores, silver stores and gold stores. Based on how your store performs with certain things like sales, preorders, feedback surveys, you get rated and sorted into one of those tiers. But it's a super shitty system because it actually can determine the amount and type of merchandise your store will carry such as rare things like limited editions or SNES classics. If you do poorly, you simply won't get them. But this system is flawed because your store performance can easily be affected by location. For instance, a store in a mall may close at 9 like any other store, but because the whole mall closes at 9, some may not be able to do midnight releases, which can affect their overall scores for preorders and such.

There's other things as well. I was just talking to a manager about it. Sorry if it was too confusing.

Edit: I'd also like to say this is from what he told me and if I got some of it wrong, I apologize, but this is what I remember him telling me. So just take it with a grain of salt.

I wonder how many gamers are big Trump supporters. Last night our group encountered two really awful guys who were very pro-Trump/pro-America/anti-everything else. I guess I can’t be that surprised because there’s a lot of vile gamers out there, but I guess I never thought of any of them as being Trumpsters. Would be really interested to see statistics on this.

Don't, I repeat, don't go to the IGN comments section. It's one of the most vile places I've ever seen. People saying the people who put loot boxes in BF2 should be killed, saying Anthony Bourdain was a coward and anyone who commits suicide didn't try hard enough, and basically just shitting all over the place. I know I crossed over a bit to entertainment in general, but there's some overlap in the audience on the site.

you're in a cult, call your dad

I continue to assert that no matter how much I love gaming, "gamers" (in hard quotes) are just the freakin' worst.

Then again, it's pretty polarized in most cases. The other half of the community is really great. Especially a lot of streamers/content creators. I find there are always a lot of great topics being discussed regarding diversity and mental health (for example) going on with a lot of the positive voices in gaming. Sure, the comments are often a nightmare, but it's good to see big voices for positive stuff.
