Didn't Trump say similar things. He's just like "Its the law (which it isn't) and its the democrats fault (which it isn't)".

I think the republicans have realized that the vast majority of the public is against them on this issue, but its easier for them to just be like "Its not our fault". Not like anyone's held them accountable for bullshit in the past so why stop now?
