Hahahaha I tried soooo hard to give them a chance but man... How much overloud tremolo can you have? I dipped after a few songs, at a bar in NoLibs having some poutine.

the songs on this album translate super well live and kyle is sounding better vocally than ever. i remember when i saw them before keep you came out his live singing was rough. he's come a long way and has so much more control and is hitting his notes correctly well over half the time now. it was the last day of the tour and he's probably tired so he was changing his inflection in a few spots but it worked it didn't sound like he was straining or anything. and instrumentally i think its hard to find a band as tight as pianos become the teeth live, they blow me away every time. it just highlighted how sloppy TWIABP are live, it wasn't even close to being a tight performance from them. i was pretty disappointed even though i don't listen to them that regularly ive heard good things about them live and i haven't seen then since 5 years ago at bled fest where i saw maybe two songs in a community college hallway, so i really had no idea what their actual live set was like. well, it's sloppy, its loud, their attempt to transition from song to song without stopping is poorly executed and makes everything seem like its going on and on and on, its not very engaging. and its just one big mess of sound where you can barely make out individual elements, there's just too many people on that stage for them to sound cohesive and tight given the genre they're playing and the venue sizes they're in.

These songs are all rippers live, as far as I can tell. Bitter Red is definitely my favorite.

Also, did anyone else spot Mr Yip?

I didn't even last 5 songs lol. Their bassist was having a ball which was nice, but he was directing the drummer like he thought he was Mike Gira or something

I saw them with mewithoutYou and Aaron was like "we'd like to thank the band opening for us. we can't say their full name because we'll be here all night if I do."

they always sound super muddy on stage. there's a reason most bands don't have three or four guitar players lol. and their vocalist just doesn't have a good voice. it's bad.

weird, they always sound clearer than bands that have fewer guitarists, that's always been part of my fascination with them. idk

I just want to say, during the quiet section of Marine Tigers, it was so quiet that I swear someone could have farted and everyone in the venue could have heard it

Fwiw I actually read your post to my friend after the show because it encapsulated my experience with TWI at that show. Also you made me feel less bad about thinking they were bad lol

Also you're better off not hearing the vocalist, they're annoying. I did like the song with the guest vocalist

Never seen them, was supposed to go last night but couldn’t make it. Is it possible that sonically they just had a bad night? Their live videos I’ve watched on YouTube have always been really enjoyable.

I saw TWIABP once with Foxing. Playing after Foxing was a bad idea in its own right, but then TWIABP played an abridged set because, apparently, they didn’t think the crowd was into it enough to deserve an encore. They walked offstage after Heartbeat, let the guitars feedback for like 5 minutes, and then house lights came on. I was not impressed.

I could watch their drummer play for hours, though.
