I have the most nostalgia with TOYPAJ and it’s my second favorite from the boys. It came out the summer going into my freshman year of high school and was the soundtrack to my high school life haha.

That's the one I had - I think that was the "Mark" version that had is silhouette on the packaging.

Also, I can't remember if it was the day of or just close to it, but I distinctly remember watching the guys on TRL doing publicity for the album. I think they were late and the camera panned down on them on the street as they were driving around in the blink-182 van.

Until now i did not realise that TOYPAJ had 3 variations. I am going to go and dig my cd out now to see which i have. I remember having the Mark, Tom and Travis show CD upon first release and it being worth quite a lot of money but then it got re-released and is now essentially worthless.

I got my TOYPAJ cd in 2011 but I was 14 so it was the perfect age to hear it. My version didn’t have any of the bonus tracks.

  5. I ditched school to run to the Wherehouse and I knew there’d be three versions but didn’t know how they’d be dillineated. Luckily I noticed the sticker variations so I grabbed all three. I was SO stoked. Spun those CDs for years. Broke the pants after some time because I was new to driving and it was lodged under my emergency break and when I disengaged it, it just snapped into pieces. Grabbed another at amoeba years later.

Another memory comes to mind that it leaked a week or two before it’s release and a friend of mine was listening to it in English class. I could hear it coming from his headphones and I KNEW those anthem part 2 drums had to be Travis. He confirmed it when I asked what it was. I was so jealous but now come to think of it I don’t think he ever burned it for me. I remember hearing it for the first time on release day. Either I was being super chill about it and didn’t wanna bug him or he just flat out told me no. I’m gonna ask him today and report back.

  6. I have a very vivid memory of the day I bought TOYPAJ. My mom took me to Best Buy so I could get it. I opened it and listened to it with my CD walkman as soon as I got in the car. It was a good day.

I had the red one with Time to Break Up. It was probably my favorite album ever until untitled came out. Granted I was 10-12 years old during that timeframe.

I am gonna jam TOYPAJ on a run today. Feeling those summer vibes hard.

Asking my mother to get me the new blink album for my birthday in 2001 and having to tell her the name sure was something. Right up there with ordering the "Tales from beneath your mom" book on her Amazon account. Thanks blink.

It was my first release day for blink as well. I think I got the red CD and then hunted down the other 2 fairly quickly so I had all 3.

I also saw them for the first time on the TOYPAJ tour. It was also my first concert.

    What a great summer!

I'm pretty sure my mom never got the TOYPAJ joke since she randomly got me a TOYPAJ t-shirt that she saw at the mall because she knew I liked blink. Or maybe she did and didn't care. Either way God bless her.

  17. I didn't get it when I read it to myself on their site when they announced the title. I went to tell my dad and he started busting up laughing and then I got it. hahaha

I listened to California and neighborhoods today. No comparison, neighborhoods better. Hopefully Tom decides to come back for next album

Count me in the Neighborhoods>California group, too. There are few of us, but we are proud.

Yeah, I mean I think I'm pretty solidly in the Neighbourhoods camp too. Don't get me wrong, I dislike that album as a whole, but there are some okay songs on there. Wishing Well, Up All Night, Hearts All Gone are all top drawer. The lows are low, but the better songs are okayish.

I can't see any reason why I'd listen to either record again mind. Can't see myself ever getting a craving for either, when the rest of their catalogue is so strong for me.

Either way, each to their own!

Don’t get me wrong Neighborhoods has some solid tracks.

But as a whole, California beats it. Neighborhoods is just a mess as a complete album.

I prefer Neighborhoods by a lot but neither of them are great front-to-back.
