Compared to Weezer’s other album covers, it’s Louvre-worthy

If any other band did this, people would rake them over the coals for being dicks. Not sure why people just laugh when Rivers does it.

 

Probably because Rivers/Weezer has always been odd and goofy and it's just part of the territory when it comes with his/their personality. Also, the band has put out so much music that I find it hard to get mad when they didn't release an official follow-up just 8 months after their last album.

If he were doing this at a point of their careers when they hadn't released an album in 5 or 6 years, then I'd be getting upset, but I think they've given us enough throughout their career (let alone the past three years) that I give him some leeway.

 

True, but they did say to a journalist the end of May. Sigh. Haha

 

yeah I wouldn't care if the Black Album wasn't coming 8 months after PD... if they hadn't on several occasions hyped us up about the Black Album coming 8 months after PD. simple equation really

 

None of this ACTUALLY matters, so the album will come when it does.

 

It will come out when it's ready.

I just think it's lame. If my favorite band was quoted multiple times that their new album was coming out on a certain day and I get all hyped up for it only to find that they were joking and keep extending it, I'd be pissed off.

 

Yeah I mean they def shouldn't of been so specific from the start and then repeatedly not followed through on the dates they were giving. Should of kept things more cryptic. Now it just feels like trolling more than anything but wtv as others have said their output has been there especially in the last 4 years so I'm willing to let it slide and not get too worked up over it.

 

I’d be a lot more annoyed if we didn’t get just 3 albums from them in fairly quick succession. If it was like a 3 or 4 year gap I’d be pissed rn.

Of all the absurd, maddening things Weezer has done throughout their career, this ranks PRETTY low on that list.

 

And again, Rivers just tweets shit people send him so he’s not even necessarily saying these things

With no official release date/announcement, there's no reason to actually get pissed when something doesn't come out. If you're reading the tweets of a man who has notoriously been trolling Twitter for years and taking them as gospel, that's kinda on you haha.

As for him saying May 25th in that interview.. I didn't hear it so I don't know if he was being obviously sarcastic or not, but assuming he wasn't, I doubt he was "joking." Things change. It's not like there was a campaign leading up to the date and then nothing came of it.

 

He says it's going to come out on a date and it doesn't, so he makes a joke and tweets another date. Still doesn't come out and then jokes again about wondering why people think it's coming out. Then he tweets another date.

I don't give a shit about Weezer in general, but I think it's frustrating and embarrassing for him to do this to all his fans.

Just because he's a troll in the past and this junk is kind of expected doesn't mean it's not stupid.
