I always change my mind about what is my favorite of theirs, but I can put Beggars on, no matter what time or day and have to listen to it all the way through. Every song instantly hooks me, and so many of the songs give me some great vibes,

    Fight the long defeat.

I also spun Artist recently and was surprised by how much the production turned me off. While those songs hold up pretty well in live performances, I don't think I'll return to the album much in the future. I guess that's a hot take?

I think that’s pretty common. I know Riley has said a few times he wishes they could re-mix the album.

Yeah they’ve all said I think it was mixed poorly.

  6. Guess I'm in the minority. Andy Wallace is incredible and I wish more people mixed like him. (He's also mixed a handful of all time classics, so, I'm not in the minority on recognizing his talents.) I remember talking to Sean from YC at the time about how blown away we were at how that album sounded and how detailed it is with headphones.

I just replied to Tim. But since you were first, it may be fair for you to get the first shake at it.

No no no. You’re good dude!

I’m buying a house at the moment, so it’s probably not a good idea for me. Haha.

TAITA's mix wasn't a bad mix, in and of itself. It just wasn't the right mix for THRICE at the time. It's always sounded hollow to me since the drums and bass are so dominant while Teppei's brilliant work on that record is buried. Of course, that wasn't the case with the record's best song 'Abolition.'

Thrice were amazing in London as always, The Grey was sick (even with Dustin forgetting a few lines lol), but no surprises setlist wise

  14. Wasn’t the right mix for Thrice at the time? That doesn’t even mean anything. I wish more albums sounded that good.

I think TAITA sounds pretty perfect for it’s time. Got no problems with it.

Major/Minor is the only one I have any real production complaints with and it’s mostly because some songs just sound a little off.

Wasn’t it Brian McTernan? I feel like I’ve always enjoyed his production. Mind you idk if he mixed as well.

Mark Trumbo of the Orioles, friend of the band, supposedly used it as his walk up music.

  18. Produced it. Andy Wallace mixed it, Howie Weinberg mastered it.

    Please don't hurt me.

The job of a mixer, as told to me by a professional mixer/friend, is to represent the most realistic portrayal of a band's sound while also serving the needs of the song. It's a very delicate balance. Many feel, including the band, that TAITA's mix did not achieve that despite sounding good.

There were stories of the label and their notes steering the mixing process, rather than the band's wishes. Again, it sounds GOOD. It just didn't quite nail the true sound of THRICE, something Vheissu accomplished in spades.

That's just my take on the matter, though. Please don't hurt me.
