Got my tickets for Hereditary today. Already looking over my shadow for ghouls. Expect some kind of rambling post tomorrow if I make it through.

Jealous. I wish somewhere was doing a screening today. It doesn’t start in my town until tomorrow which means I’ll have to wait til Monday or Tuesday to see it :(

so I watched Interior last night, been awhile since I've been a bit scared/unsettled while watching a horror movie. the director's two related shorts are also really good

Hereditary was so good. I went in absolutely blind to this movie. the son wasn't the best actor so some key moments didn't land for me. couple other things that took me out. but overall, shot so well, loved the slow burn. I hesitate to say it's an enjoyable movie experience because it's moreso a strange and unnerving experience that at times honestly felt physically ill haha. i'll be thinking about this one a lot for sure. for anyone going, watch for everything on screen and listen for everything in the score and sound effects, so much extra subtlety that made the movie for me.
also, did anyone else get killing of a sacred deer vibes at times? haha

The Shining on the big screen was awesome. The tracking shots are where it's at and my favorite was in the maze at the end with the close-ups on Jack as he is shouting for Danny. It felt like he was about to pop out of the screen.

The Music Box in Chicago. They are showing 2001, Barry Lyndon, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut to ramp up to the premiere of documentary Film Worker about Kubrick's right hand man behind the scenes.

    Y’all I don’t know what to do
Every fucking time I see a horror movie the audiences are always a goddamn nightmare
I just saw Hereditary and it was full of all the worst people: people talking at full volume, people on their phones with their brightness way up, and my all time least favourite horror movie behaviour, laughing during tense moments
I’m not gonna stop going to horror movies but they seem to attract so many shit heads that I can’t actually enjoy them fully
    It’s so frustrating

This is why I go see stuff like that in morning matinees, almost nobody is there and it’s always quiet.

For real though, it blows my mind how much people just lack etiquette when it comes to being in public. Like when I saw Blade Runner 2049, I had to deal with these three asshole talking loudly, being on their phones, and drinking the whole time while not even watching the movie. Like why waste the money on tickets when you can go to a goddamn bar and do that there?

Triple post but goddamn, this looks great. Totally blew my expectations away, I wasn’t very pleased hearing Blumhouse was involved and had little interest in this but I’m sold now. They had me at “THE SEQUELS ARE NOW IRRELEVANT”.

I prefer early afternoon movies and in the past year only had two complaints... seeing the last Planet of the Apes movie the guy next to me had a BO problem and seeing Annihilation the guy must have had a medical problem with a constant restless leg syndrome

I get so lucky with movies. The last one I remember being ruined was August Osage County when a bunch of middle-aged couples showed up a few minutes late and practically shouted about not understand in anything for 20 minutes. I almost never get talkers or phone lookers. My showing last night was mostly teenagers and yet all we had was one girl who screamed and shouted in total terror and cracked everyone up. And you’ll pry laughing at intense reactions from my cold, dead hands.
