Also, just gonna say: this album is a nightmare for someone who listens to music casually with just one earphone: Half of the intro riffs are stereo panned to just one side, so I tend to boost to volume up to a listenable level then get blasted with volume

Loving the album. Not sure it'll overtake Mothership as my favorite, but I really enjoy it.

Count Bassy video is truly something else. I love the song though.

Great video but I'm not too sold on the song yet, purely because the sound quality is so terrible for me for some reason? Idk whether it's my headphones or the fact it's youtube or what, but something sounds off with it. Some good parts though; part from 1:27 to 1:41 reminds me of "stadium indie" type of stuff, Jon's main part and the bass in the outro both good as hell.

Don't mean to cause any concern, but I have a feeling Tilian's lines on Bloodsucker are vaguely politcal, and in the context of the time they were written (last November, during the peak of #MeToo) not particularly flattering.

    Especially this part

    "Can't take it back
    Accusations, fact
Denial becomes evidence to crucify the innocent
    Settled in the victim's role
    He'll anguish in the pain"

I had the same thought about some of his lyrics in Lost. Kind of ruins that song for me.

This isn't particularly surprising. He's had several lyrics that might be called vaguely anti-PC/anti-SJW/etc. on the past two records. However, I did pick that theme out on the first listen to "Bloodsucker," and it's probably the most direct song yet in that vein.

I feel like it's a good example of how the insanely great instrumentals from this band are often tarnished by flippant lyrics, whether it's Jon being Jon or Tilian's cheesiness. Maybe I just take stuff too seriously and miss the point, but I can't help but think DGD could be on a higher plane if this weren't the case.

Tilian also tends to defend these centrist bullshit artists (Jordan B. Peterson most recently) so nothing really surprises me anymore.

At least he's not a rapist, so I guess there's that.

I think it may just be the production. I thought the 128 leak sounded bad because it was compressed to hell, but then I realized I could barely tell a difference vs. 320's of the singles if I played em back to back.

they really neutered Mess on this one, damn. doesn't even sound like same guy anymore

this has some of the best and some of the worst of Tillian era imo, but it's still probably my favourite since Acceptance Speech anyway. Suspended, The Rattler, Shelf Life and Evaporate are straight slappers

Isn’t Peterson’s reputation built on misogyny? Could be confusing him with another Twitter personality but idkkk

Tilian & Tim follow people like Jordan Peterson & Mike Cernovich on twitter, super lame. I remember arguing with Tilian about guns after a mass-shooting a few years ago and he was definitely one of those republican types who are super in to "the 2a" and shit like that.

This one does sound better through the pair of £10 earphones I have now that it's on Apple music, but in places everything sounds like it's panned too centrally if you know what I mean (not sure on the correct terminology?) and tracks sound less clear than usual. Still a good song that is growing on me more & more with each listen, love when the guitar follows the melody line in the verses!

This is funny since I felt Mess was way crazier on this than Mothership.

I agree with this, but Mothership is the worst DGD by a really long distance imo. This was a step in the right direction but Mess still sounds like he's writing around Tillian's hooks, not the other way around.

Yeah, we'll probably agree to disagree here, the Tilian era of DGD is my favorite. Shelf Life did make me wonder what could've been if Kurt stayed and they never brought Jonny back for DBM2 though. Some real Hot Water on Wool vibes on that one.

I really don’t think Tilian is anti #metoo movement, but I haven’t heard the song yet.

Whoa this dude from Eidola sounds great, is he their normal singer? Like a lower register Jonny.

Yeah, I would wait to read lyrics for the whole song, considering songs like Awkward that are extremely tongue in cheek.

Kurt would have left anyways. Will, and others said they had concerns of his smoking habit damaging his live presence. Plus he expressed to the band he wanted to sing in a very higher pitched tone on the next album with them which they didn’t want I’m sure. There would have been some fued somewhere.

Ah, I didn't know all that. regardless, it was great to hear Kurt and Jon trade off again. SPOILER for Evaporation: I only caught Tilian's throwbacks to Self Titled with Alex English and Me and Zoloft. That's... interesting.
