on a side note, I go to a fairly "traditional" church, but we sang In Exile during our worship, and my mind was blown.

the worship leaders are onto something.

on another note, i've been to several churches that sing various Modern Post songs. Are they that big in the community? Or am I just happening upon them in Kansas?

 

Condemning all non believers to an eternity of tourture sounds disrespectful, but I’ll drop the subject.

 

There were a few of them in AZ in the mid-2000’s that would always do stuff like that. Playing stuff like Paramore and Underoath was, and probably still is, a very easy way to maintain appeal to the teens that are venturing to the point in their lives where church may become questionable or less important to them, hah

 

It's already growing on me more and more so that's good news. I love the lyrics for it very much. Just still need more time with it but at the same time I'm gonna try really hard not to overplay it so it will be a delicate balance haha

 

Kinda luke warm on the new song, but I know I’ll be listening to it more. Hopefully we get a release date on the album soon.

 

What the fuck are these bad takes on the grey, that guitar riff is unlike anything I've ever heard

 

Bad blood on the sand takes too, that was an amazing single and remains one of my favorites on that album

 

The Grey is fantastic. If you are a fan of Thrice at all i don’t understand not being big on it. It’s a terrific Thrice song.

Blood on the Sand rules too.

 

I was not big on Blood on the Sand when it came out and it still is one of my least favourites from that album, but The Grey is great!

 

I have a history of not liking their first singles on albums, and finding them my least favorite on their albums

All have a very straight forward almost punk feeling that the rest of the album does not continue.

I wouldn't be too concerned about this single.

 

Yeah, All the World is Mad was the first song they released from Beggars. It’s the weakest song on Beggars imo but I’ve grown to like it.

 

All the World Is Mad is a top-tier Thrice song and there’s nothing else quite like it in their discography.

I also love Blood On the Sand for at least the fact that it’s their most “punk” song since Identity Crisis.

 

I’ve always thought that All The World Is Mad was the best song to demonstrate their transition from Alchemy.

I also think that the quality of other songs on Beggars (Circles, In Exile, Beggars) have just made it pale in comparison over time.

 

This. Blood in the Sand, and All The World is Mad are some of my lesser favs of my favorite Thrice Albums, and I think I dig The Grey more than both of those. It's insane that Blood in the Sand was hiding Hurricane and Black Honey.

EDIT: I still love all those songs, I just think Thrice has a trend of keeping their best tracks for album release.

 

"The Grey" = "Blood on the Sand" + "Black Honey"

It's way better than "Blood," but it's not an all-timer like "Black Honey." It has similar verses to "Blood," musically speaking (only better) – while the chorus is so radio-friendly a la "Black." Plus, all 3 song structures are straightforward (exactly as radio programmers want them).

 

I can't be the only one who hears this Anthony Green melody. Dustin doesn't normally do runs like that.

Talking Through Glass is such an underrated song. So good.
