This EP I’m working on for the chorus comp is wild. I’m not sure any of you will like it. The song I just made sounds like a soundtrack to an alien horror film

 

This is pretty sweet since shipping cost + exchange rate is always brutal to Canada for vinyl. So far leaning towards getting either Batman Returns or Jaws or both. Don't own any soundtracks on vinyl yet. Wish there was some i really wanted tho but will prob get something anyways haha

Now, Now- Saved

This is my first exposure to this group, and I have listened to this album a couple times. This was not what I expected at all going into this. I will start off by saying the vocals are really good, I am a sucker for female vocals and hers are really good. This is a fun, groovy pop album filled with synths, effects, catchy melodies, and a lot more ear worm capability than I believed. Normally I find music like this sort of annoying, but I actually had a very good time with this one for the most part. No complaints really, it’s not what’s normally in my wheel house but I found enjoyment in the listens I gave this one. The production on this is very good, and there’s some nice stuff done with the pitches. Not a bad album at all. It didn’t crack my top 10, but I enjoyed it. I am going to show this to my fiancée because she would absolutely love this.

Standouts: MJ, Can’t Help Myself, Holy Water, Saved, Set it Free.

 

I love this album but you should listen to their last album. It’s like this meets Transatlanticism

 

I've always kinda secretly liked Make Believe well i guess it's not really a secret anymore ehhhhh

 

Now i think it's mostly because it reminds me of 2005-2006 which is an awesome thing.

 

Perfect Situation is like the quintessential Weezer song.

 

Yeah its a great fucking tune i dont care what anyone says. Been interesting going through all their records like this. Gonna do a top 10 of my fave songs when im all done

 

It’s hilarious they re-recorded the chorus because the crowd kept singing it wrong

 

Same with Heart Songs on Red Album i've always loved that tune for some reason. Love those mid tempo/ballad Weezer tunes.

 

Same with The Damage in your heart on Make Believe

 

I would love a super dark/melancholic/depressing weezer record thats my dream release and i hope thats what the dark album will be like but i strongly doubt it will be like that.

 

Haha that still throws me off

 

The second half of Make Believe is underrated imo

 

Everyone loves "Perfect Situaton", just not Make Believe

 

Guess i'm in the minority then since i like both

 

I'm thinking of going to go see Weezer with Pixies and The Wombats because looking at the dates they play in Toronto on Saturday and Syracuse on Sunday both places are near me and I'm seeing Radiohead on the Monday in Montreal.

Texted my gf about it and yeah the more i think about it the more i love the idea. Would be an awesome 90s alt rock trip to see all those bands around the same time

 

"Beverly Hills" and "We Are All On Drugs" are two of my three least favorite Weezer singles, whereas "Perfect Situation" might be the best. Talk about mixed bag!
