The Window is just a killer song. It rips. Hurricane is a storm of a song too, literally, as it sets the tone for what's to come.

 

At this point I'll actually be surprised if I get the Smoke variant as I ordered it.

 

I ordered the smoke bundle with the litho and slipmat. My order is all correct. I hope you guys get it sorted out! I'd be pretty upset.

 

Not gonna lie, I'll be right pissed if my order on the vinyl is wrong.

Dustin sounds so bluesy on the first half of this record. Love it. It's early, but I am leaning side A over side B at this point.

 

After a couple listens, I'm in love with this record. "Salt and Shadow" is such a perfect closer, it feels like the whole album comes full circle with that song.

 

I see what you did there.

 

Been hearing this album constantly since Wednesday and I freaking love it. Starting to warm up to "Wake Up" too, but it's undoubtedly the weakest song on this album for me.

 

"It's gonna rain until the levee breaks" is a perfect line to sum up/set the tone for how this record makes me feel (in a good way). Lyrically and musically.

 

Okay it looks like a bunch of people are receiving black instead of the smoke variant. There's close to ten people over @ vinylcollective who are dealing with the same issue.

 

I love how the end of Salt and Sanctuary uses the melody from Hurricane. Great way to end the record.

 

Now I'm worried even more. Mine still hasn't even shipped.

Eek. This preorder has been handled poorly.

The 180g Black Version, which is still available through their webstore, was/is supposed to be out of 1,000. But now it's looking like that is the standard retail version. Some orders haven't even shipped yet (were supposed to be delivered today), and now a plethora of customers receiving black instead of smoke.

I'm curious how many of the limited editions they put back for damaged returns? If one thousand were pressed, I wouldn't think they would set aside more than like what, 20? If they don't have enough to cover all of the mistakes, I wonder what will happen.

Anyhow, you gotta think that a repress can't be too far from now.

 

Thrice at #7 on iTunes Top Albums. So nice to see.

 

Just finished my second listen. Whistleblower is a clear favorite at this point. I really love everything about it, from Dustin's angry vocals, to the drums, the fucking bridge, etc. It works great as the penultimate track here.

 

According to a Facebook post by the band, the variant on Amazon is 180g.

 

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I didn't think they had 2 different black variants.

 

I'm definitely pretty bummed for everyone getting the wrong variant, and obviously worried about my own order now. For those of us waiting for our orders to arrive next week, we have to remember at this point it's out of our control and hope the label does right by us, making sure we get what we've paid for.

At this point, as long as they will fix it and send the Smoke eventually, I can be patient with having the wrong one for a bit.

 

I also love how the song just seems to teeter on the edge of falling apart in the outro

 

I think I can conclusively say that 'Hurricane' is my favorite Thrice song of all time. I had a suspicion when I first heard the clip that it would be. For me it is perfect.
I'm a big fan of 'Wake Up' as well...not sure why people think it's weak

 

Yeah Hurricane sets the bar pretty high. Would have worked just as well as the closer.

 

I'm about to give them a call and see what's going on with the issue I had last night. Still haven't gotten a shipment confirmation despite them supposedly sending it with expedited shipping yesterday.

 

Can you check the status of your order to see if it shipped? I don't always get a notification.

 

Problem with mine is that they never actually gave my package to FedEx. So I called them yesterday and they said they would send another package, but with expedited shipping with a new tracking number. I confirmed it was gonna be what I ordered, the right variant and everything. But now when I check the status of my order it says shipped, but it still takes me to the old tracking number.

EDIT:
Just talked to them, I have a new order number, but can't check it yet, says I should get an email any day now and should have the vinyl by Tuesday. I asked her to read the contents of the order and it seems like everything is good, but I'm crossing my fingers until I get it in.

 

Good luck! If you end up getting more than one, I would love to take the other one off your hands hah.

 

If that happens, I'll keep you in mind man haha
