And the Kanye album is typically ego centric while the FJM largely sets his ego aside and brings him back down to earth

 

Between FJM and OPN it's my favorite release day this year.

 

That and the fact that FJM decides to do no press himself at all for the album, and ends up against the biggest press shitstorm there is.

 

after the exhausting pure comedy press run im glad he let the music speak for itself this time out. especially given the contents of the album i think it was necessary for him to just shut up.

I just am confused because truly removing all the bull shit, I just didn't think this was anything special at all. I said before all of this that I was so excited for this because I was imagining what it would be like if you took the best 7 songs from any Kanye album. The songs here just don't even compete on that level - they're not even close. But it seems like people are still loving it? idk

 

I'm a little bit happier that a lot of the positive responses are from white kids that use lit and fire emojis to speak about albums.

I can't comprehend how people are talking like this is a throwback album.

i was fully expecting my previous love for kanye to get the better of me and begrudgingly like this album. but nope, not even close.

Yea exactly. I was prepped to just kind of listen in private and feel a little guilty about it but still acknowledge it was great, but it's just... not. Even the beats, like they're fine, but Daytona's are way way better so it's not even just about a "fuck Kanye" mentality cus I can admit he did a great job on that. He didn't here.

 

this is nothing like any of his previous albums because his previous albums are good. this is like the worst parts of all his albums combined i guess.

 

daytona's beats make for a cohesive whole at least. these beats are really scattershot and dont gel to make a statement that feels like an album.

 

you can have good beats but this is just lackluster songwriting so what's the point?

 

A lot of people are absolutely loving this.

 

Read some reviews because I was curious and it's getting praised which is dumbfounding to me.

 

the music journalists I follow don't seem to be into this. geoff rickly seems to love it though

 

yeah a lot of the music/media people I follow are roasting this

 

I like it, but it's easily his weakest.

Daytona is far superior though and gave me unrealistic expectations for this.
