i mean im up past midnight now may as well ride it out to 3 or 4 and set my alarm for 9 just in case. anyway im not even that excited. you're right i should set my alarm for 7 just to be sure.

They never said it was their last album. They said MFC would be the last of a trilogy. There was talk about doing an album under the name Drive Like I Do next, and people took both of those things to mean it was the final album. They might take a break from The 1975, but they’d be crazy to end it.

They ended the last era with the motto “we’re just getting started”. Doesn’t seem like the thing to keep saying if they were going to wrap it up the next era.

I just sneakily called my local record store asking “if you have the new 1975 album on order” hoping to get some info but apparently there’s no date attached to it. I tried!

 

It'd be awesome if they premiered the song tonight on BBC radio one and then announced that the album will be out at midnight. It'll never happen but it'd be awesome!

The fact that it’s being premiered 5 hours before the countdown ends tells me something’s up.

 

Trying not to get my hopes up too high lol, that way I avoid disappointment. I know we're getting a single today at bare minimum, so that alone is exciting. If we get more then great, but I'm not gonna expect too much more.

i feel like the countdown is for some other surprise as well. idk what that may be but my paycheck was just deposited and im ready to give them all of my money.

 

I mean, the countdown is for June 1, and Matty's own post/image of the single lyrics (see above) also says June 1, so I don't think there's any doubt anymore that the countdown is for the single (despite the BBC premiere, that's its own thing I guess).

 

My guess is we'll also get the music video, some album info and pre-order options.
