I mean, that's cool and all but just because it's your preconception dependent on where you live doesn't mean it's correct

 

When I did Uber/Lyft I would usually drive between 7pm & 2am on a Friday/Saturday night and make a little over $100. Did substantially worse when I did it during the day

 

I had never been to a State that bordered the Great Lakes until last year when I went to Chicago.

but yeah they throw down a bunch of sand out there at the shores. it was a really good beach.

So how could I keep track of mileage?? They have apps. Should I do that?

 

if someone said to me "Hey you want to do bath salts" i'd wonder when i landed in florida cause that's my preconceived notion of that state but it doesn't make it factually correct.

Nah we don't got bath salts really up in the north. but if you said you found a gas station owner that sells spice on the side then I'd assume you're in north Florida.

 

I'm sure there are apps that track your movement. Could just turn on the trip meter on your car, too. When I track mileage for work, I'm not worried about being super accurate so I just google map it all after the fact when I get home.

Hm I read uber and lyft do a good job tracking it themselves. But yeah i found an app that will track my mileage and expenses.

my impression of Florida is that it harbors on average the most violently crazy people of anywhere in Western Civilization

 

i know my ex found a lot of good info on the uber/lyft subreddits and whatnot. her aunt is also a CPA who does her taxes for her, so she got her all the breaks. But being an independent contractor means you'll not be taxed for what you make with uber/lyft until you do your taxes, so it's great for extra money up front but eats at your tax return pretty heavily. I was an independent contractor for a couple different sports-related things in the past and either got no money back or owed a little bit because of it.
