In a nutshell, whenever Trunks goes back in time and changes the course of any of the events, the timeline diverges into a completely independent line. Trunks is still in his original timeline because it's like he was jumping back and forth between the same two branches, if that makes sense.

The first time, he was going back in hopes that he could alter his own timeline by changing the past, but it was unsuccessful. Since he now knows that trick won't work, he is basically traveling back to recruit Goku, Vegeta, etc. to kick Black's ass. He also just kind of jumped into the time machine to avoid dying in that first encounter we see.

Okay, that's pretty much what I was leaning towards thinking. So, basically, whenever time travel occurs, a new timeline is created, but Trunks can only go into his original timeline? I guess there was an overall tone in his Super introduction (his interactions with Bulma) that made it sound like he was doing all of this to change the future.

Well, I think technically the way it works is you can jump from any previously established timeline. It's kind of weird... But for the most part, yes, every time someone time travels in a machine like that, it makes the timelines diverge (but Whis can straight up rewind a timeline and those time rings make you jump forward on a single timeline or travel to another).

But yeah, I think he was trying to save his own timeline firstly, but he also thought by traveling backwards, he could save his friends in the main timeline as well. Like by giving Goku a heads up that someone might be after his body, it would let them prevent it (but still not save his own timeline....) I don't know, honestly you have to stretch your imagination a bit to get this arc to fully make sense lol

can't be made fun of Prestigious

i do like the Super manga, but they have done an abysmal job at giving character to the non-main ToP participants. they're just Saiyan fodder.

I actually enjoyed the Heroes episode way more than I expected.

Wow that was trash. But I love everything about that version of Goku over the Super one. And I think over time I’ve come to like SSJ4 more than Blue. It’s far more interesting.

  12. I've never watched GT, but I dislike the overall look and plot of that series. Except for the SSJ4 transformation. I love it.

I like the concept/design of SSJ4 a lot, but I wish it would have been named something else. As a transformation, it is not really the next level after SSJ3.. it's something completely different and can be achieved on its own.

You know, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that GT is probably not as bad as everyone remembers it to be. The more mature tone was a nice step up from Z, and villains like Baby, Super 17, and The Shenrons we’re actually pretty cool. I think the biggest problem with the series was the overall aesthetic. The way it was drawn, the shadows and shinyness, and the color palette. Certain character designs didn’t exactly help either such as Vegeta, and the overall sidelining of all the Z-Fighters. They made the right move in trying to capitalize on the popularity of Trunks, but they missed the mark design wise.

This guy does a great job of doing an objective observation of GT's run.

TL;DW - Basically, there are tons of factors as far as why people didn't/don't like it. In hindsight, having Goku as a kid wasn't a great idea and people weren't as receptive to it as they had hoped. There was also a lot of series fatigue by this point because this show premiered literally a week after DBZ ended. As you just pointed out, pretty much everyone besides Goku were absolutely useless (even more so than in the other series). People also were skeptical of it because they had it in their minds that Toriyama had 0 involvement.

Broly is now officially canon. The Dragon Ball Super film is a Broly film.

Broly doesn't do anything for me. Never understood the love.

I don't hate it, but I really wish it was something that expanded the lore of the Saiyans or at least explored more of the other-universe characters. There is too much potential wasted on a FOURTH Broly movie. I should have known they were leaning this way when they had a female version in Super.

Edit: Also, what do they do at this point? Do they just pretend the movies never happened and work him in like a new character, or do they try to pretend like he was a real character that's coming back? Either way, that makes the old movies kind of weird.

What is the source on those images, by the way? I haven’t seen that anywhere else online yet.

I wondered that too... "Broly" is trending worldwide on Twitter right now and that image is everywhere, but it hasn't really been posted by any news/media outlets that I've seen (much less any official sources).
