Love Elm Street 2 for that reason. I’m a pretty firm believer that Freddy only works in the first movie so it’s nice that 2 has that going for it

  3. I saw it in theaters and loved it. It's definitely a mix of genres and fell flat for some people in the movie's thread if I remember, but I thought it was sharp and had great performances.

Nightmare fans NEED to watch all X amount of hours that is Never Sleep Again. Such a cool documentary!

question for all of you- i'm planning a trip to Salem for the Salem Horror Fest and there's a horror movie props/costume museum there called Count Orlock's Nightmare Museum. I wanted to ask if anyone has been there and what it's like?

  8. Halloween 5 was...not great. Easily the worst of the series up to this point, even a few drinks couldn't save it. There were some interesting ideas -- I actually didn't mind Jamie's story, and the barn kills are classic -- but as a whole, the film felt really disjointed and made inconsistent decisions that seem to be a product of the director and producer feuding. Like, I had to review the plot synopsis on WIkipedia, and it read well enough, but on screen, it just didn't come together. Even Loomis was unlikeable, he basically just yelled at Jamie the whole time.

My hope is that Paul Rudd saves The Curse of Michael Meyers for me, but my expectations are low. Nick Wiger of Doughboys said it was one of the worst movies he's ever seen. Gotta push through for H20, though.

  10. I will say, Halloween 5 had my favorite line of the whole series so far.

"I prayed that he would burn in Hell...but in my heart, I knew that Hell would not have him!"

As a kid Jamie was always my girl so I'm partial to those ones

I think I just liked being a kid and seeing another kid as a central focus lol

I need to obtain a copy of Halloween 2 so I can continue the series. Only really have seen 1 & 3, other than catching 4 here and there on basic cable as a kid

Is part 5 the one with the classic scene where she says “Uncle?... You’re just like me” and he sheds a tear but then continues to attempt to stab her. That made the movie for me

Watching Rabid for the first time. Man Cronenberg is just too good. Even younger Cronenberg films(this, The Brood, and Videodrome) have such a confidence in their dialogue, and writing.

COUNT ORLOK’S IS THE BEST. I’ve been multiple times and even though it never changes I’ve left ecstatic every time. Apparently it’s moving to Essex St. (way more touristy stretch) this year so hopefully it’s as impressive in the new location

Ahhh so cool! Okay. I made a whole planning board of places to go for my group to look through and we were curious if this place was worth the hype. Thank you!!

Wow, Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child was worse than I was already expecting it to be

I’m getting back into the world of horror.
I watched Raw last night and enjoyed it. I also atched Clown. The first ~20 minutes was great, but then it dragged way too slow.

Has anyone here actually seen Hereditary yet? I’m a MASSIVE Gabriel Byrne fan and the reviews sound absolutely incredible, but I’m definitely worried that it may be too much for me to take if it really is “emotional terrorism” as one review put it. I’ve been watching the hype develop for a while but didn’t realize just how rough a watch it may be until recently. Definitely wish I had some local friends who are into the genre to go with.

Same. I remember watching the previews with my wife (who I can occasionally get to go see a horror flick with me) and after it hit the audience with the “DON’T SAY WE DIDN’T WARN YOU” it was an immediate “NOPE” from her haha.

Hahahaha. That’s the boat I’m in for sure. They’re really reeling me in with the cast and the comparisons but there’s no way my usual movie companions will be ok with it. I just wish I had a parallel version of myself to watch it and tell me if it’s doable or not. Lol.

I watched The Green Room last night and liked it. I heard all the praise, but knew nothing about the plot. It was very intense. I recently finished Star Trek: The Next Generation, so seeing Patrick Stewart in this movie was weird, especially the role he played.
