Yes! Completely agreed. Echo my thoughts completely.

    Exhausting is the right word.

That isn't to say it's bad, it's just full on the whole way through. I feel like listening to it in chunks of 3 or 4 songs is better. I wish there were 1 or 2 slower songs to break it up. I think putting even just one slower song before 'Whistleblower' would've made this album a lot better.

It's like if Beggars was 'At The Last' for the whole album.

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

I like it quite a bit more than Major/Minor. That's all I know so far.

The production though. So good. Super well mixed, and helped me better see the qualms @Jason Tate had with the new Brand New single.

Even the songs that I love a little less on this, each song sounds so good.

    hmmm

Wake Up sounds like a mediocre Foo Fighters song.

    Hurricane on the other hand...

Every time I listen to Death From Above I am going to think of: ":chin:" because when "chaplain" is said I think of @Chaplain Tappman

Love how they put When The Levee Breaks as an influence on the Spotify playlist when really it's just a lyric in Hurricane

I think Riley mentioned channeling Bonham when he was writing the drum parts for this record.

In an interview, Riley was saying how the producer (I unfortunately forget his name, though he knocked it out of the park on this album) sent him some Led Zepplin songs and told him to channel Bonham on this record, which Riley was pumped about it. The producer was telling him to really play in the pocket and find the groove of the song, which, I think Riley did phenomenally well and it's why he's one of my favorite drummers and a huge inspiration. He always knows what a song needs and never overplays anymore.

That color scheme of the vinyl is top notch. Really goes with the artwork. Living in regret for not getting it.

I did manage to find a used yellow copy of major/minor in mint condition today. Stoked on that.

For real, this might become my second favorite album from Thrice. I find myself loving this more and more with each listen. It's so consistent. Even songs I wasn't completely sold on before (Blood On The Sand, The Window, Wake Up) are coming around to me.

Okay. Full disclosure I caved, and listened to it. It's amazing. I'm a little disappointed with no Water or Circles like tracks, but overall I'm very happy with it. The Long Defeat probably being my favorite.

    Also Salt and Shadow.

I also love a majority of Wake Up, but the chorus I could live without.

The way Dustin sings "I drop death out of the sky" is reminding me of Maynard/Tool. Am I crazy?

I'm waiting to purchase this in a couple hours, but judging by the comments I think i'm going to love this. Also, I'm a ballad guy but I'm completely fine with the comeback album being an adrenaline rush and the more diverse and adventurous record coming later. Feels appropriate.

Obviously I haven't even heard the thing yet, I've just been lurking so long I wanted to say something. 12am, come quickly.

If you're a ballad guy, then you're going to love "Stay With Me." It's the first real ballad they've ever written. And it's wonderful.
