Yeah maybe we do Brad's idea of having a new album page for each of us, and then have a separate comp where we each pick only one song to contribute.

 

Does it have to be an ep? I just had a big move, and My friend and I have one song that we’re working on that can be finished by the end of the week, but we probably won’t have more than that by June 7th. Is that ok?

 

Think I finally got the inspiration for this to be an EP. As was, I was gonna submit 3 songs of mine and a cover, none really related. Now I think I can wrap 4 originals with a theme and a cover, and actually have it be an ep . I was writing a song with actual political and religious undertones in it which is very rare for my music.

 

2 songs and 1 cover done. Still writing the other tracks.

 

I have songs!! which feels great bc these are actually the first songs I've written since the last originals comp back in October haha

have written and demoed two so far and have sketches in my head of two others, might also redo/reimagine two older songs and/or do a cymbals eat guitars cover, we'll see how far I get

@bradsonemanband Hey man, thanks for calling me out! If I wrote my own music I would totally participate, but sadly I don't. I do look forward to hearing everyone else's stuff :)

 

Came up with a bridge section that reminds me of Timecop1983... @bradsonemanband mentioned them in the album release thread and I think their groove may have rubbed off a bit.

It's a weird juxtaposition to the metal-y parts that surround it.

 

Timecop1983 was one of the main influences for the cover of 'Burn' I made for the Alkaline Trio compilation! :D

 

Glad I randomly popped in here to see what was going on, this TC1983 record is sick. Definitely has gone under my radar

 

Being stuck inside this rainy Saturday motivated me to write and record a new song.
I got 2 new songs recorded, along with an old song I recorded last year but never shared with anyone. Hoping I can write and record something new before the due date.

 

Three more weeks!! I feel like I've already done so much but I've still got so much to do.

I suck with visual arts stuff. Would someone like to make my "EP art"?

 

i wrote the instrumentals to a new song yesterday, which felt good. i gotta say, i'm not looking forward to writing lyrics for these songs i've been working on, haha. i hope some inspiration comes soon. i haven't written lyrics in a very long time. eeek!

 

PM me, I've been struggling with finding the right art and have ended up making a lot of alternate album covers, maybe one could be good for you???

 

I have all my songs now but am torn between going for stripped down/acoustic arrangements or doing the digital full band thing

 

Maybe you can do both! Maybe do two versions of the EP, one acoustic and one "full band." Or smash them together and pick your favorite versions of each song, orrrrrr you can put both EPs together and let people download both versions and then make their own EP that has their favorite versions of the songs. A band called The Age of Rockets did that a long time ago, and I thought it was a really cool idea.

either way though, i'm stoked to hear your new songs! i'm proud of you for dusting off the cobwebs and making it happen! you're way ahead of me, and probably a lot of us.

 

I was torn with this too, but I ended up just keeping them straight acoustic except for one song.

Feel like Ive been deadlocked for a few weeks.

I’m attempting the write a movement from my rock opera, it’s prolly gonna be a mesh of sonata form and some other shit I’ll prollly blatantly rip off. It’s like 6 minutes so far but I’ve only got 2 parts and some of its filler. I’ll prolly make it 9 minutes(Jesus of Suburbia anyone?) That will be my “EP” maybe throw in a cover or two if I have time.

I would say it’s piecing together nice. The time is a concern. I’m gutting my entire rock opera at this point, so I’m conflicted on a few things. Which is good, i got stuck on a lot of other shit cause this part of the story wasn’t done. I’m grateful we have a deadline cause I never gave a shit about this stuff before.

I’m just spitballing into be void rn to hash this out, only people that know about this are you folks, my friend Tim and my therapist. I really had to check with the my therapist before I go exploiting my mental health.

Right now I’m just angered, and sad by recent events in the states and I’m not letting It consume me so I gotta channel it in a healthy manner. So again, I am grateful for this project

 

My throat has been sore since may 4th. I'm still not feeling great vocal wise but I'm gonna try this week, maybe today and wednesday.

 

Just started writing the first song. I honestly have no idea what I’ll make the name of this project be, since I don’t think this will be an official release from my main project

 

Basic instrument tracking for four songs - DONE.

I still have to write lyrics, record vocals, synth, a few overdubs and get an even mix / master.

Still seems like a lot but I feel like the hardest part is over. Also, I don't have to worry about album art since @angel paste hooked it up!

Excited to share this... no matter how it turns out.

I wanna include a cover and I've been torn on which cover to include. An old 97s tune I always get complimented on in my set, or a wonder years tune in a different style since a twy comp never happens .

 

yo, can I submit just the song or two for the mix itself and not an EP? I have four finished songs rn and several more song ideas that are coming together into an album, and I'd prefer to wait and make the album rather than put the four songs out by themselves
