I must be the only one here not really feeling Stay With Me. Sounds too much like Long Defeat to me.

All these songs have already grown on me, though. Even Wake Up, with its rote chorus, is a jam. Not terribly Thricey, but still good.

    Fight the long defeat.

This is excellent to hear as a somewhat recent Radiohead fan. Not sure how extensively they were featured on AP, I would love to see their discography reviewed at some point.

I appreciate your TBEITBN review as well. Waiting until my shipment comes in to hear the record, but I'm encouraged to hear how you've analyzed it.

Mild grammatical qualm: third-to-last sentence should read "breathe" rather than "breath". Cheers!

Final studio video discussing the themes of the album, I know a lot of us have heard it already, but always cool to see interviews of these guys

Honestly, you may or may not enjoy it. I think it's worth checking it out though if you like Beggars.

Beggars and the Alchemy ones are the only ones I enjoy in addition to this

I love the poly rhythmic feel at the end of the window... This is much like what saosin does in the bridge of second guesses.. Kind of funny both bands come out with a pretty unique type of thing within a week of each other.

    Seneca

Love that interlude, because it leads into an awesome second half of the album. Just when I think, "Good God, this album is stellar!" Seneca comes in and reminds me there's another half.

"Wake Up" is the only okay song for me, it just doesn't do much.

This is as good as Beggars. Might end up being better

I think it may be missing the wood and wire and circles of beggars, the ballads are a little bit stronger on that record I think

From a production standpoint I prefer this to almost anything they have done. If they can push their songwriting just a little more in the direction of "the window" "death from above" "long defeat" "hurricane" "stay with me" "salt and shadow" and "whistleblower" while keeping this production I think they could have a true masterpiece. This record is really good and enjoyable though. I like every song but LOVE the ones mentioned above

This album kind of reminds me of Daisy with how exhausting it is. I'm still loving every second, but I feel like the only cool down time is Seneca and the closing track.

The album takes three deep breaths before it lets loose. The opening strums of Hurricane, Seneca, then Salt and Shadow feels like one big exhale.

Yeah I suppose. Keep in mind I don't love Beggars like most. Illusion is my #1

  16. Hmmm...I know their last two albums got AP reviews. My review of their new album is waiting for publish, but I'd love to go back and do a retrospective series on their discography. We've done a few of those before. Thanks for reading!

Someone mentioned the error in the review thread haha unfortunately, I don't think I have access to edit it. Thanks though!

Feels a lot shorter than 41 minutes, it's good though. Love Dustin's voice on the last track.

I would include the verses Wake Up and Stay With Me as moments where the album cools down a bit. Parts of The Long Defeat and Death From Above as well.

My preorder is scheduled to be delivered WEDNESDAY. What did I do to deserve this I'm a good man. (I) thought I was.

I can't figure out how to rank this among their discography. On one hand there are a lot of great songs on here. Songs I enjoy more than a lot of Major/Minor, but then I simultaneously feel like Wake Up is probably Thrice's worst song ever written.

Mine still hasn't changed from shipping label received, I have no clue when I will get this.

@Kmil Mine originally said the ship date was last Friday, but still only showed the shipping label thing. Then yesterday it switched to shipping date 5/25. Those tricksters got me.

Got my Vinyl from Amazon. The download code worked, which was a pleasant surprise.

I will likely listen to this tonight with the fiancee. Can't wait.
