Seriously, just give me a whole album of “Saved” and “Holy Water” and “Window.” Kind of wish I didn’t play the singles so much before today too, haha.

 

It’d be dope if The 1975 took them out.

I was lucky to see them on Parahoy. They were quite humble on stage and couldn't believe the amount of fans they had on board. It was cute.

 

threads is my favorite album of the decade and it took a while to get to that point so if this album stands a chance of getting there (which I doubt) we’ll have to check in 2020

 

On first listen I wanna say I'm a little disappointed by this but I still really enjoyed myself the entire way through so maybe it was just the expectations from reading this thread (and the fact that Threads is a top 50-ish album of all time for me and a very tough match). anyways, Set It Free was probably my favorite of the non singles

 

This is an album that on first listen you’re like, oh ok that was good but nothing special...but after 3 listens you’re like ohhh that part in this song is crazy cool and this part is great and then you’re obsessed

 

"Knowme" is so pleasant.

 

Knowme is still my least favorite but it’s really grown on me. I think a lot of it has to do with it being sandwiched between Saved and Drive.

 

This is obviously not really a sonic comparison but Knowme feels like the Dead Oaks of this record. Just a real minimal track slapped somewhere near the middle of the record

 

I love Knowme. I can’t believe more people aren’t into it.

Okay, I've been listening to this since Monday and at first listen I was disappointed. I was 100% on board with the sound the singles brought. I loved every single one of them, so initially, my expectations let me down when I was met with rest of the songs which to me, were quite moodier and low-key than the singles. A few listens in, I got around to "Window" and "Holy Water" and now I can't stop replaying them. Still though, I was trying my best throughout the week to fall in love with the later half of the album, I just couldn't get into the melodies. When the album officially dropped last night, I gave it another few plays, and I fell in love with "Drive" and got around to the rest of the last four songs. Holding out on "Can't Help Myself" and the title track though. It's a great album at the end of the day, and I really just let my own expectations hold me down and once I let them go a bit, I allowed myself to enjoy the songs for what they were. Proud of them and I can't wait to see them in the summer.

Can’t get over how much those vocals in POWDER sound like Amber Bain haha. Absolutely not a bad thing

 

Knowme would be at home on the first 1975 album. I get some Robbers vibes.

Finished my second listen a few minutes ago. I’m so glad this album exists. They are truly inspirational following up an album like Threads with this. Losing a key band member, and still injecting this much nuance in a pop record is to be commended.

P0WDER is a awesome closer too.

 

Listened to this all day. Easily a top 10 album of the year. What a great record.

 

Knowme gave me Threads vibes instantly. Even it’s placement in the album in comparison to Threads. It immediately made me think of Separate Rooms. It’s a delicious treat they’ve been playing both live recently.

I believe I’m making the same point as you, but about Knowme and Separate Rooms. In terms of its pacing and mood!

It’s been days and I’m still thinking about Cacie’s little solo encore. It was just really moody, and it took me back to the Cars era, with how much of a lonely and introverted album that is, and how her delivery of But I Do carries more weight once it’s stripped back. ‘I am what you need when you can’t find it somewhere else. I am what you want when you don’t want anything else’. Cannot stop gushing about Now, Now.

 

I know already that this is going to be a really strong contender for my AOTY
