i feel really bad.

had fever and chills all afternoon/night yesterday and really don't want to be at work.

 

Can't you call in sick?

my manager is not understanding.

 

That sucks, man. I've phoned in sick twice so far in my life. Once when I worked a shitty waitering/kitchen job and wanted to leave anyway, so when he threatened me I just quit down the phone from the toilet aha. The other was when I worked as an audio/video editor and the contrast when he said it was okay was amazing. Having a good boss is one of the most stress relieving things.

yeah I have had to work from home somewhat often this year due to my kids alternating being sick and they couldn't go to school. even though I've only taken like 1 actual no-working sick day in the past 6 months because I always end up working from home because I don't want to fall behind on my work, he's just a jerk to me. I've had 5 managers at this job and he's been the only bad one. the others were great. one of them even saw me yesterday and asked me if I felt ok because I looked bad and told me to go home.

I just need to switch teams/jobs/companies.

 

Where are you based? Cause I heard in America you don't get paid for sick days and that astounds me as someone from the UK.

 

Working with a fever is hellish

 

I'm in texas(usa) and that's true for most service industry jobs. some companies have sick days, but I'm salary not hourly. plus my company's sick policy is supposedly "unlimited".

it just sucks because before this manager I kind of liked my job.

 

it's terrible. my temp was 99-100 when I left to come in to work, can't take more ibuprofen for a few more hours though.

and I'm completely useless right now anyway. seriously just watching the clock because I can't focus on anything for work.

 

Ah that makes sense. Luckily I'm also salaried so it's not a big deal but the idea that people can get seriously sick and not have any form of pay, or free health care, is something I can't get my head around.
