I really wish i could remember where i heard Christian say this / where i read this, if someone knows what im talking about, please say so to confirm this... but i heard/read something in the roll out of this album where Christian was talking about this idea of someone being a "sun" or a light. the kind of person that just brightens you whenever youre with them, the kind of person that has the ability to make a bad day into a good one (a lot of that are my own words expounding the idea of what a "sun" was to him)... but anyway, with that context, i think that is a perfect line to close that song. "I cant sit in your sun" to me, is essentially saying "I cant live up to what you are or what you expect me to be". that idea goes perfectly with the first line of that outro part "Carved your name across the sky in a fit of exiting"... its a goodbye.

 

I remember him mentioning something about the song being how the sun gives off all of its energy but gets none in return. Not really sure if this contradicts/supports, just adding to the background.

 

I hate that i cant remember where i heard this because i dont want to misquote anyone.

 

Finally did it and ordered the Cerulean and Coral vinyl. It's been growing on me and I didn't want to pass up on this variant since it reminds me of the cyclical theme of the album, the cerulean being the moon and the coral being the sun.

 

First listen is happening now. I am so excited for this.

I enjoyed this album. I restarted it as soon as it was finished. I can't wait to delve into the lyrics more.

Didn't have the immediate impact that Home, Like No Place Before on my first listen, but I can't really ask for another album that good. Its not fair to ask for another album that, in my opinion, is a solid ten.

I saw a post on Twitter on how the riff of Sun is basically a major Enter Sandman, and I cannot get it out of my head now haha

they're a canadian punk band. their sophomore album is coming out officially on Friday, but it's been streaming on NPR.

The "I should've asked if you could stay" section of Settle The Scar is a major ear worm, it's been stuck in my head for an hour

 

I imagine me listening to Settle the Scar now is how people who had never heard True Love Waits before felt listening to it on moon shaped pool.

 

I think it's slightly different, Settle The Scar is relatively similar in both versions but True Love Waits is a lot different and a completely alternative approach between the live and AMSP versions. I think having heard TLW before I had heard the studio version made the song hit me even harder as the way it was changed to this melancholic piano ballad was incredible and different...for Settle The Scar it was more having heard the song before really, like hearing a song live before it was on an album.

Color variations and assembly for a 2xLP have taken a bit longer. We are hoping to have them in house this week but it's possible they won't be here til after Memorial Day. Need to come back to this album sometime today. I've only listened to the stream twice and that's it.

 

I read somewhere it stands for Pathetic Use of Potential which is pretty awesome.
