Awful if it happens, especially since it'd be better for a network to buy 2hrs of Smackdown and 1hr of NXT instead

 

the real question about a three hour Smackdown is what the fuck happens to 205 Live? no way can you expect a casual audience to stick around past midnight with the dark match included. do they put it before SD and have it be taped? or air it live at 7 as a lead-in?

 

Oh god why. If the networks are really that desperate for live TV, I wish they would just move NXT to normal TV and make it two hours. Raw/Smackdown/NXT all being 2 hours would be great.

also all the article states is that it’s an option, fwiw, which has technically always been the case, though a new network is the easiest excuse to pull the trigger. no actual statement that it’s being discussed.

 

They should drop Main Event and put 205 Live in it's place. How many people actually watch Main Event?

 

Honestly, with what they'll make in the SD deal, i dont think they give a fuck about 205 Live. Especially when its so easy to pre-tape it or go the NXT route. I could actually see them folding it back into one of the brands and dropping the show.

But man, with the dual-branded PPVs and potentially 3hr RAW + Smackdown, thats potentially 10-11hrs of wrestling in a week. Probably closer to 12 on the big 4 shows. That's a full season of a network sitcom.
