I wouldn't be caught dead in public wearing Brand New merch. Have to say, I do feel really, really bad for anyone with pre-existing Brand New tattoos, though.

I wonder how many people in a random club think about R Kelly as a person when Ignition Remix comes on.

That makes sense. I guess I’ve just never known many casual Brand New fans. I know they exist, but it always felt like most people who considered themselves fans were all in (myself included).

    Maybe so, maybe not.

As someone with a Brand New tattoo—though it's really a piece for my family—why? Seems like a bit of a blanket statement to say anyone.

I've definitely felt like, and continue to feel like that (that self-proclaimed fans were all in and would naturally seek out news), but even within the past couple years I've been amazed at how many times I've asked people if they've heard of x band and they have, or take it a step farther and say they used to listen to that kind of music all the time back in the day. that almost blows my mind even more bc i figured anyone who listened was easily identifiable by their band shirt wardrobe, but apparently not lol

I don’t know, I’d be really upset if I had gotten a Brand New tattoo knowing what we know now.

Right so no offense but we don’t need people pitying us. We’ve got enough complex emotions going on about something permanently on our bodies

Right. I mean, that I can understand.

I've just seen this whole "yikes, people with Brand New tattoos!" repeated endlessly since the news broke. I'm with @supernovagirl on this—it's our own body and any judgment, whether it's pity or scorn, is misguided. Personally, I have zero regrets for my tattoo. What others feel about theirs is up to them.

Just putting myself into that situation and expressing/projecting how it would make me feel, I guess. I don't have any tattoos but if I did I probably would've had at least one from this band. Didn't mean anything else by it.

I get it but like @Drewski said it’s something we’ve been dealing with over and over since the news broke. It’s obviously a heavy subject and not a topic I signed up to have often when I got it but here we are

Yeah, seeing as they've said fuck all while his victims were getting abused by their fans, I don't think they plan on holding him accountable for anything whatsoever. They're obviously not very good people so I on't think they're good models to make him be a better person. All they're doing right now is aggravating him and validating him in his choices and behaviours. Classic.

Wait was that the guy at the Andrew show in Charlottesville? There was a LOT of talk about him where I was, and we were all a little concerned, while saying "Why would anybody still support them today?" My mom went with to the show and was sitting at the bar area. She saw him try to hit on several women, all of whom rejected his advances (at least based on what she saw. She knows a little about the BN situation, and was a little surprised to see him wearing that shirt).

YEP. That was him. He had a long talk with the merch guy during VIP about it. I was really bummed to see that Andrew had someone working for him who was talking like that. And I’m not surprised at all about the guy. I made a comment about them never touring again and both of them looked at me like I had the plague.

  17. Yeah, that’s clearly why they shut down their label and canceled their final plans.

  20. So your “they dont care what people online say” ... by now your own admission ... is not true. Good talk. They saw. They ran. They’re cowards.

Or they believe theres just no point in releasing any sort of statement....similar to how anyone on this board who has posted anything that has remotely come off as anything close to any sort of continuing relationship w the band has just continuously been booted away...

It would be nice if everyone had that luxury, but unfortunately for victims the harassment they face in these places is direct and harmful. Even if they don't care what people say about them because it won't effect them, it be nice if they could care about others who didn't have a number one billboard album and money from a bunch of other records where their abuser profited off their pain. If they could care about the people who now have their personal trauma broadcasted and easy to find on google as well as people trying to talk about how they cant be trusted and digging through ancient social media and personal life. However, considering how likely it is that they knew Jesse was an abuser and they continued to an enable it, I guess I shouldn't expect them to have common decency.

  24. So they simultaneously canceled all their plans, tours, and shut their label down while also not caring about what anyone thinks. Right. That’s totally plausible. Good one.

Yeah I don’t think highly of sexually manipulative and abusive people or their enablers. Strange how that bothers you.
