And since the comparison was to Paramore’s S/T, I’ll point out that that album had songs on pop radio. The irony haha

  2. Idk what you mean by “rock based” but all three of those songs have very clear guitar parts in them if that’s what you’re getting at

Also no one is claiming this is a rock album

  4. Could not disagree more with this categorization. Pop-rock and radio-pop can be virtually synonyms.

indie pop/dream pop have their roots in rock based music so i don't even know what you're on about anyway

I’m not sure why these distinctions matter anyway. What’s wrong with writing “radio pop”?

weird, i think a lot of this record is pretty far from radio pop, the singles lean closer to that (though not really) than most other things on here.

most of this is pretty dreamy and ambient

The funny thing here is that SGL is the song I could see doing the best on radio.

The style of it, not what's literally on the radio. Regardless, SGL has been on the radio.

But radio pop literally means pop that’s on the radio?

I dunno, I don't think this album fits with the phrase in reality or when it's being used as a pejorative. Indie/pop/rock, awesome synth based music everyone should listen to ... that all works better for me.

Listen to anything from Cars, Neighbors, or Threads and then put Yours / MJ on. They could not be more different--sounds like 2 different bands.

And that's not necessarily a bad thing; I'm just not feeling the mad positive vibes everyone else is from this record.

I've been going through this bands discography non stop all week I know what they sound like. Saved does not sound like a completely different band. It sounds like a band realizing their potential and trying new things based on what they've already done.

I think MJ is my favourite song on here and I still can’t make out the lyrics 10 listens in haha

They could absolutely be more different too like this isn't a fucking drone metal album lol

Lol. It's like we're listening to 2 separate records. Idk, man.

The closest similarity to what they've (well, Brad) put out in the past is Love You in the Dark, I'd say.

I will say that while there are elements of Saved in their earlier work some of the songs here sound most similar to Love You in the Dark.

the argument that this is "a completely different band" isn't nearly as bothersome to me as the "lyrics don't have substance" one though. that one just feels downright mean spirited

  23. Hell, just listening to the Threads remixed EP shows that the core of quite a few of their songs has this connection.

Like, shit. That song's structure is right in line with what they do here ... and the remix makes it even more apparent.

  24. Warning: They talk about cars and repeat the same line quite a bit in this song.

Did you not listen to the remixes of Neighbors when that was re-released? This really isn’t out of left field
