Staind could NOT write. They had like 4 decent songs.

Mark Tremonti from Creed was an interesting guitarist wasted in the wrong genre though.

Oh and the album that holds up best that was real nu-metal has to be a Sevendust one.

Fuel and Finger Eleven's albums hold up better than Sevendust, but they never really fit nu metal anyway.

Nu metal isn't an insult and there are/were plenty of good bands in the style, just a lot of bad shit to like any other "of the moment" genre

So, I was just listening to a new album and I was curious if other people feel the same way, but when I hear songs that we're previously released as singles or b-sides and then rerecorded for an album to match production, I often like the original.

The best examples I can think of are:

New Disaster by I Am The Avalanche
Let's Get Dead by New Year's Day
A Doe To A Deer by Los Campesinos!

This isn't always the case, but it bothers me when I'm listening to an album all the way through and I hear the "lesser" version of a song haha.

Three Days Grace is my favorite of that bunch. I still think One-X is a great album. Breaking Benjamin is okay too, they’ve just released the same album five or six times now. I really enjoyed Phobia back in high school.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Didn't Rivers Cuomo have a hand in writing this? No joke, when I was a Weezer boardie (Maladroit era), there was a war between Weezer and Cold fans over something but I cannot remember what the genesis was.

This is the first nu-grunge related opinion in here I can get down with. Weathered was the first CD I ever bought. Not even ashamed. My Sacrifice and Bullets were bangers to 12 year old swboyd.

no. just no. leave. and unplug the jukebox on your way out.

Or the Smash Mouth nerds on the tour forum. My contempt for them shows up every 1.5 months in the damn Riot Fest thread.

Now that I'm reflecting on music from my formative years: The Curse is Atreyu's best album by a country mile.
