Yes, tbh they probably still would if they announced another tour.

    Not newbie, I think Supporter

My assumption is that the average fan who doesn't go online and seek out message boards/news really has no idea that this happened. I'd agree sales would be fine. Which further reinforces the idea Jesse's indiscretions are significant.

I can contest to this. A couple colleagues of mine who consider themselves causal fans of the band didn’t know what went down. One bought the new album not too long ago they said. This was like a week ago.

Honestly every time I see this thread bumped I get a pit in my stomach thinking they made some sort of announcement

We reach for the longest shadow

My wife doesn't follow this scene at all, and I was talking to her about Brand New and the Pinegrove incident. She found the most disgusting part of the BN incident was that the other bandmates haven't said anything at all. I know what Jesse did was absolutely awful, but their silence really is so disappointing.

Well and not just the silence, but I'm not convinced they've actually cut their ties with Jesse. It doesn't really seem like any of his other friends have. I mean, maybe publicly they don't air their support for him but I wouldn't be surprised if they're still standing in his corner or supporting him as their friend.

It's been talked about before, but I think it is good to have friends during this time that can help keep you accountable. They can denounce what he did while still supporting him as a friend. They can be the ones to check in and make sure this type of behavior isn't still happening, make sure him and his wife are well, make sure he's being a good dad to his kids. I'm not saying that all that should lead to a comeback for BN, but if they are his friend, they can help him make amends with the people in his life that matter most. Obvious;y they haven't done the first part (denouncing the behavior publicly) so I don't know if they can be good, accountable friends or not.

Sure, and I'm not ignoring that it's a weird spot to be in as a friend. I've been there and it sucks. However, the silence from those "friends" just really bothered me so I'm still a bit salty but I do recognize that certain things could have been said/done in private.

Yes, you can read about it further back in this thread.

Nandi did for Pinegrove. Although I guess she's technically not in the band anymore?

Sorry, I should've been more specific. Specifically the other members of BN are who I was referencing, and who she was disgusted with.

I just saw someone wearing a Brand New shirt today at lunch. To make things worse, it was a teenage girl. I was genuinely confused at first. (Why would you want to publicly support this band?) But it mostly just makes me sad.

I haven’t listened to them at all since this situation. I don’t think I’ll be able to get any joy out of that music again.

I’m assuming there are many fans who have no clue what happened.

I guess that’s possible. And I hope she didn’t know. But it seems like this story had more news coverage than the band ever got in the past 15 years. I feel like if you’re wearing a band’s merch, you’d be aware of something major like this.

I've seen one person locally wearing their merch repeatedly and I haven't wanted to bring it up, and the only other person I've seen wearing it recently was at a show where he clearly knew and wanted to wear it to show continued support.

    Let it run Supporter

I got my BN shirt in the mail like the day before all of this shit came out. I wear it to bed or around the house sometimes. I feel like if I had it on and had to run to the store I wouldn't change

Not everyone follows music news. I told my friend about it a few months ago who's a fan (we even saw Brand New together a few years ago) and he had no idea. Unless you actively seek it out by visiting sites like this or whatever I'd say it'd be pretty easy to avoid.
