Let's say that they are literally recording right now. What's a time frame for new music? Before the end of the year?

I can't imagine these vocal recordings came before guitars and drums. They must've already finished those pieces unless these are demos/early ideas?

  2. Since they're working with Feldmann again, I can't imagine that they are demoing anything at all. They're probably writing and recording as they go, like they did with California. I bet we'll see it by this Fall at the earliest.

But maybe they're just doing an EP to put out for the Summer/tide people over for the rest of the year so Matt can do some Alkaline Trio projects or something. I could see that maybe being a possibility.

Based off of past history, except recording the Untitled album and Neighborhoods, once blink gets into the studio they usually finish the recording process in about 3 months. So that would bring us to August at the earliest. They started recording California in January of 2016 and were finished in March of 2016 and the album dropped basically 3 months later on July 1st, so album could be out by the end of the year. Again if following past recording patterns.

I don't see them sitting on an album for almost a year before releasing it. I'd be surprised if it wasn't out in November or December.

EDIT: But maybe the Deluxe Edition of the album will be released in the spring of 2019!

I still laughing at that idea someone earlier posted here, that John already wrote and recorded whole Blink album by himself haha

Well Matt is just a hired gun with no input so Feldy already probably did all the guitars and wrote his parts

    /sarcasm

A November blink album would be cool if it feels like a November album. Don't pull a Weezer and give me a summer album when it's cold out lol

When did we go from "Blink are probably recording a single to promote the residency" to "Blink are recording a new album"?

I didn't know there ever was a "blink are probably recording a single to promote the residency" both Travis and Mark have referenced songs as in plural. I can't imagine they're bothering with just a single or EP.

Untitled was released in November and that fit perfectly with the time of the year. And yes I agree it would be harder to listen to summer mish songs in the almost winter.

If Blink are going back into the studio to write a new album already then Matt might as well quit Trio now.

Untitled came out in November but that was such a winter album. I can't picture this iteration of Blink not putting an album out in Spring/Summer.

I never equate music with seasons. (Although that might just be because I'm depressed every day of the year and never go outside to actually experience the weather.)

I'll definitely take a new blink album this year

I typically don't either, but for some reason I relate the +44 album to winter. We had a handful of ice storms when it came out, so I grabbed it and listened to it on all of my "snow" days that year. Then it was just too depressing to listen to during the summer. Haha.

Don't Dan and Derek produce their own stuff? Maybe Alk3 could self-produce?

I don’t normally either but with +44 I drove 2 hours round trip to a mall that would usually take 29 minutes in a snow storm that shut down half of the city with a suspended license to buy +44 from fye. I will always equate tht album with snow and ice

To be fair you could have said the same thing about the band before they released the Untitled album too.

When you consider the members and their previous output, they could very easily write a ‘dark’ or winter album. Feldmann... maybe not so much however.

He's always had multiple projects going at a time... why would this be the straw that breaks the camel's back?

I know this has been the big counter point but none of Matt's other projects didn't take up as much time as blink has.

He was basically going non stop with blink since January of 2016. They recorded from January to March, started touring the US from June to October, then had 4 shows in November overseas and 4 shows in the US in December. Had 5 shows between January and February then toured from March to May in the US, then went on their overseas tour in June to July and then toured in the US when they got back in July with 10 more shows.

You have to think that once blink drops another album they're going to have another massive US and European tour and he'll basically be tied up for another 2 years and once that ends blink will probably be back into the studio again to record another album.

I can totally understand how people are concerned about the future of the Trio. Matt has had down time since last September so the best shot for Trio to really sit in the studio record would have been around that time and it doesn't appear that they did that. And even if they recorded a new album would they really have much time to tour? I'm definitely concerned about the Trio's future.

Matt ignoring Alkaline Trio for Blink is the same exact thing Tom was doing ignoring Blink for AVA.
