Last season taught me you only need QB depth if you are a team in Texas

Usually if you're starter goes down, you're in deep shit

You're acting like the New York Jets have a starter and not three guys competing for the starting job when normally they'd be third stringers at best on any other team.

Where did I say anything about the Jets?

I'm just saying QB depth is such a ridiculous argument. If a starter goes down for a long period of time, things usually don't go well.

(If they start any of those three, they'll be picking in the Top 3 in the 2017 draft. Fitzpatrick is coming back. It's all but certain.)

You directly referenced what I said and I was talking about the Jets.

It goes for just about every single NFL team and it's common sense.

If you want to talk about the Jets, we can. Their starter is holding out. They want him back. He wants to come back. He'll be a member of the New York Jets in 2016. Pointing out that Smith, Petty, and Hackenberg aren't capable starters doesn't really matter because they aren't going to start games unless Fitzpatrick gets injured.

And like I've said a few times already, if the starter gets hurt and one of those backups has to go in, the season is all but lost.

Not every team has that kind of beast.

I will never understand why they did away with the skills contests in the Pro Bowl and yet insist on playing the game.

I haven't watched the Pro Bowl in a decade, but I really loved seeing those quarterback competitions with all the guys goofing around and flinging balls 70 yards.

We had depth last season we just didn't have a starter or anything remotely near one

All the most important wins we made with brand new backups

God bless Hopkins and our defense

  24. I mean, he's a good example of what not to do. The young players will hear from him how quickly his career ended for being a shithead.

Plenty of players with troubled past come in and speak to teams in attempt to prevent others from making similar mistakes. The sad part is that it should be obvious that doing what Ray did was awful. Unfortunately we continue seeing it from male athletes which is probably why the team thinks it's beneficial to bring him in.

Yep. And I know the league has done similar things before...feel like Pacman Jones spoke at a player symposium for the league one year for example.

And if his message is "have a fall guy" like Cris Carter, it'll become public soon enough
