Forgot to say, they are of course selling the album on the current tour! Could have got a copy of the vinyl yesterday at the London show but didn’t wanna carry it home haha.

powder is unbelievable and i was walking my dog while listening and it went from beautiful sunny to doomy dark calm-before-the-storm windy during the course of my first listen to that song and man was it amazing i can’t wait to dive in deeper

Brilliant night. Cannot stop smiling. It was such a different atmosphere to usual gigs. It felt as though I was sat watching them at band practice. There were a few hitches, but they played it off so well, they’re really funny and endearing people. What a cute, personal gig. You can see they’re enjoying themselves and goofing around, as @Richard said.

As far as the set goes, wow. I half-expected only like 9 songs. And for them to play Cars made me want to just weep. They reworked a few songs from Threads to fit the style of the new album, but played others as normal. The encore was stripped back, with Cacie playing things solo until Thread. Really interesting performances. I’m so happy. Managed to snag a setlist too! What a perfect send-off. I love this band so much. To think...the last time I saw them was in a huge arena, playing to a sold-out crowd for Paramore in 2009. Crazy.

And the venue was perfect for them. Fairy lights and hanging baskets, with ‘New Orleans’ townhouse frontages lining the walls. Very pretty and very different. Time to close my eyes in preparation for moving tomorrow.

 

I really like all of Brad’s vocal parts sprinkled throughout the album

 

This is a good album to listen while driving with the windows down next to your baby.

I have not. I think someone in here said it got pushed back though.

 

I obviously ordered the vinyl through the U.K. store, but I’ve had an email to say the patch from the US store was dispatched at 1am today. My U.K. order says it’s dispatched, yet also says it was sent on the 17th. Despite it being the 16th. Colour me confused...genuinely thought this was out on the 15th.

 

@RyanRyan that setlist finally sold me on getting a ticket to the Manchester show! I almost went to the last nights show myself but didn't take the plunge based on the fact I wanted to have definitely heard the album before seeing them on this tour.

 

You really won’t regret it! They play eight new songs out of a seventeen song set. (SGL, Yours, AZ, MJ, Can’t Help Myself, Window, Saved and Know Me are what they’ve played from their new album on this tour so far.) Four of those eight have been available for a while, even if you’ve not listened to the stream in full yet. Plus you can totally buy the album there before everyone’s preorders ship.

Last night’s show was like sitting in on band practice. Really fun, calm atmosphere. And what a brilliant set. Seeing them play Cars changed me haha.

 

Having heard the album now and seeing that they're playing Knowme, I would have been kicking myself if I didn't. Considering the one off London show they played last year was the same night as Julien Baker's London show. (I was fortunate enough to bump into Brad and Cacie at Julien's in-store the day after though)

Been meaning to check out Mama Roux's for a while, so maybe next time someone worthwhile is there I'll finally go! I've heard nothing but good things from performers and people who have attended alike.

Last time I saw Now, Now was when they supported Motion City Soundtrack in Birmingham back in 2012, so it's been a long time coming (albeit not as long as your wait).

 

I went to that same in-store! I saw Brad and Cacie walk in and freaked out haha. Had a quick word with them after...maybe it was you who spoke to them before, as there was a dark-haired guy (apologies if you’re a girl) chatting to them before me.

I couldn’t go to that Now, Now show as I was living in the Midlands. The in-store with Julian was easy enough as it was midday and not a problem to travel back from at that time.

Mama Roux’s is excellent. The area seems a bit...odd. But once you’re inside it’s fascinating haha. I saw The Hotelier there last year and lost my mind at the venue alone.

I really wanted to go to that Birmingham show in 2012 too, but I was just leaving for uni or something. It annoyed me they were coming all that way just for a support slot with their new album having just come out. Especially when I rated them far above Motion City. But yeah, Birmingham is brilliant for the shows - so many different venues, and bands almost always stop off there.

 

Saw them back in 2012 at Manchester Roadhouse (a cracking little venue that has since closed) - saw Finch and Get Up Kids there too over the years

It could have potentially been me and I was wearing a hat! I booked a hotel for the night for the occasion that was only 5 minute walk from Banquet, so I had commute half way across London after the Union Chapel show hahaha! I noticed Brad and Cacie sneak in the back, during Julien's performance it was distracting to say the least.

Most of those venues that open in and around the Custard Factory close before I even get a chance to see anyone there, it seems like Mama Roux's doing well though. Looks like a perfect place to catch The Hotelier too!

Birmingham has been my local the majority of the time that I've been going to gigs, until the last couple of years. I've always found it rather hit and miss regarding what artists come through during a tour. I do agree about venues, there is a good range and something for any size band. It shame about The Flapper closing soon though, great place.

Hahaaa I rarely get star-struck, and I was already in awe of Julien, but seeing them walk in the back made my stomach down to my ankles. I was screaming inside hahah. I had forgotten about them being in London because I’d mentally blocked that out, out of disappointment with not being able to go. It was an amazing coincidence they showed up haha.

Was it a beanie? I think you’re the guy I was referencing haha. Everyone was leaving and the guy in question started telling who he was with about Brad and Cacie, and I got excited that someone else noticed haha.

Oh it was brilliant yes! I’m usually going to gigs at the HMV Insitutute, (think it’s been renamed the HMV Academy now confusingly...with the O2 Academy being another prominent venue in Birmingham), so the last few shows at Mama Roux’s have been so refreshing. The Custard Factory is a really interesting area!

I saw one band at The Flapper called Johnny Foreigner, and while they were fantastic, the crowd was full of drunken bellends spilling drinks and shouting. I ended up stood on stage with the band at the end because the aforementioned morons were fighting and pushing everybody forward...against a shin-height stage. Awkward. Plus the landlady was an arse to me. Drunk and insulting. So yeah, not the best experience there for me I’m afraid!

Same. After a few listens, I feel like the singles ("SGL", "AZ", "Yours") were most of the strongest tracks. I'll definitely be giving it more listens, but disappointed.

 

Me and my girlfriend listened to this while we cooked dinner together last night it was really magical
