True. As soon as they're asleep, I cozy up in my Spider-Man blanket and start reading comics.

I quit real cooking for at least two months after our second one was born because thought of cleaning the kitchen on top of cleaning bottles and pump parts made me want to scream. Also, babywearing helps me get stuff done when my littlest dude is cranky/tired/wants to be held.

I meant to take a pic but this is absolutely what I did to get the dishes done haha. Makes it take longer but whatever. Still catch myself rocking back and forth while standing even when she isn't in the carrier on my chest haha.

Your're in a good spot now huh? Both sleeping through the night?

Isn't it funny how that happens? I sometimes find myself swaying when I'm standing up even though I won't be holding either one haha.

Things are pretty good now. The little one still needs a bottle once during the night, but it's almost always before I go to bed. I've also finally figured out how get them both down for naps at the same time (most days), and it's made things a lot better. The first couple months with two kids though were mostly a blur for me and I don't remember much because I was so tired all the time. (Sorry if that sounds awful and like things won't get better; they do get better!)

Doesn't it make you feel so accomplished whenever the small things like that work out!

No way, absolutely not, I appreciate the honesty! I'm the same way, I'm sure people at work hate me because I'm TOO honest about my kids lol.

Sorry to anyone if I sound whiny or complaining, just trying to gauge what others did, seems like we're all on the same page.

My wife has it worse tbh. She's the one home with both kids most of the day.

I just feel bad for my son because I know he gets pretty excited when I get home and wants to play but I'm on baby duty and typically confined to the couch most of the night.

  7. Same here man. I can see it bums him out. Gotta set aside special time just for him as much as possible

When our second was born my wife and I were pretty much like 2 single parents for the first month or two. I almost solely took care of our 2 y.o. and she took care of the baby. And the only way we get the house truly clean is if one of us takes the two kids and distracts them for a few hours or go somewhere while the other one cleans. Otherwise we're just on the brink of the house being manageable or becoming a disaster of a mess. Luckily our baby sleeps through the night and is usually out by 8:30 so whoever is putting our toddler to bed usually ends up falling asleep with her and whoever is putting the baby to bed is responsible for cleaning up from the day and getting the bags ready for the morning.

My wife and I are lucky enough to be able to have cleaners come every two weeks. It will come in very handy with the newborn on the way in a couple months.

My wife and I can clean the house SPOTLESS and within 8 minutes it looks like a hurricane again. Honestly, to me, that's the most frustrating part of being a parent, because I'm an absolute clean freak. I've always been a clean freak - it's like an OCD thing for me - and it's always bothered me my whole life when stuff is out of place or shit is just everywhere...for no reason.

My son has hundreds of little hot wheels and Cars cars and you can't go like 3 feet without stepping on one. We'll clean them up and put them in baskets, but if he's looking for one in particular, you better believe he's dumping out ALL the bins instead of just picking through it. Also, can't wait until my daughter starts walking (should be soon) so we can get rid of all the big walkers/jumpers toys that are taking up so much space in our house.

I'd love to hire a cleaning service, but as of now, there'd be absolutely no point. The house would be a wreck 10 minutes after they leave.

  13. HOT WHEELS. Man, my boy is obsessed with little cars. He loves to sort them and he has a back story for each and every one.

    They're everywhere.

Yeah, we got him the huge Hot Wheels Gorilla Garage track for Christmas. It was like $200 but I figured, hey, maybe he'll store all his cars in the garage and the house will be clean so it'll be worth it.

    Yeah, no.

We also made the mistake of buying him a Hot Wheel every time we took him to Target, because they're only like, 89 cents. Which has developed into a really, really bad habit. Now he's obsessed with the Cars movies, so he collects all the Cars cars, and those are like, $3.50 a piece. I think he has all of the characters now so luckily we won't have to spend much more $ on that...until they make another one :(

  15. We live the same life. No joke. We also created a habit of buying him cars at Target "as long as he did a good job" (meaning, he didn't freak out or run around the store).

We're actually going to start a reward chart with him soon. If he does something good like cleaning his room, he'll earn a sticker and then when he gets 10 stickers he can get a toy. I think he's old enough to comprehend this now.

My son had two dry nights in a row! He's been potty trained since last summer, however, he still wears a night time pull-up when he goes to bed because he hasn't figured that part out yet.

Man that "get a car from Target" life is totally us too!

Realized recently that we may go to Target a BIT too much considering he says Target anytime he sees the bullseye logo :crylaugh:

We love it there. Tons of great prepared foods. He loves their sushi, their quinoa kale cakes, salmon, etc.

It's quite fantastic. We all can get what we want and then we do our weekly grocery shopping right after.
