First Fragment is a tech death band who will be putting out a new one soon that I am anticipating to be possibly extremely good

The new Gojira track was what I was expecting from them in the first place on this album. I love it so much more than the first song that they released.

After listening to the first Gojira track they released I completely agree! Hope it was just the case of it being a single and the rest of the album is to the standards of SIlvera!

Will never not like these dudes. Has anyone here seen them live because their live videos look awesome.

I think Parallax II is my favorite but everything from Alaska to Coma Ecliptic is tops

finished spinning the new Katatonia for the first time

they can do no wrong but this is too new Opeth-y

I mean, I like it, but I prefer Viva Emptiness Katatonia

first track is fire tho - some Tool-like riffing there

    track 2 too

let's see how it sinks in w time

Colors is their peak to me - lost them after that

Carnifex still does nothing for me...djenty deathcore just isn't my thing nowadays.

Agree with this general sentiment (not sure if I've shared it here in this thread yet). They have some good moments on their following albums, but Colors is probably their most cohesive album to me by far. Sun of Nothing is probably the best song they've written, IMO.

I would agree that Colors is probably their most complete album, but a lot of my favorite moments in their catalogue are on Parallax II

I dig all their albums but I have to be in the mood for The Silent Circus or self-titled.

yeah, too much prog wanking after that - Colors is less indulgent and throws some really br00tal sections into the mix... the riffing in the first section from (B) the decade of statutes is a doozy

    Alaska is p. sick too

I think the biggest draw I have for Carnifex is the vocalist. Dude just has the thickest growl, I love it. Musically, they remind me of slipknot haha.

Colors is probably their most musically complete album, hard to debate that. Tracks like Ants of the Sky and Sun of Nothing are epics. Personally, there's so many specific standout tracks and parts from Alaska that it remains my favorite. I mean, all of Selkies, the fun riff in The Primer, the opening to Alaska...so much good.

I personally love the proggy-ness of their later albums lol

well... it's good to be you because they've progressively been heading deeper and deeper into prog-tastic territory, haha

I'm ok when bands play that card, but they generally loose me just after the inflection point... when the prog side takes over...

another example... the last Emperor album was sick - but then the Ihsahn solo albums lost me

I've seen them, but it's been a while. It was the tour with Born Of Osiris, Veil Of Maya, Betraying The Martyrs, and one other band I think. Definitely the best band that night. I'll be seeing them on Summer Slaughter too hopefully.

I like the new song and all, but not as much as I expected to. All the new albums song titles sound metal as fuck though, so I'm excited to hear the rest, haha. Plus I like that they're putting even more black metal influence into their music.
