Saw them once with tom and once with skeebs. The major difference was steadier musicianship, and a lot less talking. I don’t recall Matt saying anything and Mark kept it short and sweet. For a band their size, I think they are a little disappointing, but it’s still fun and you can always count on the crowd to be into it. And of course, Travis is still a monster and everybody eats it up.

Matt has a stronger voice and is a better guitar player and doesn’t say “pee pee” or “rim job” between songs. They still aren’t good live but they’re better. They’ll never be Green Day or anything but they’re generally a fun time.

"Left Alone" is still being left alone.

  5. Really? I didnt think they played any California songs until the album came out a couple years ago. Guess I was wrong!

Matt plays the guitar better live than post-reunion Tom because he actually cares and puts effort in but neither can really sing for shit lets be honest. I don't think anyone goes to blink shows for an astonishing vocal performance. They probably just want to sing along and bop around.

I've been saying this. Having experienced them in both settings, they just aren't an arena/stadium band.

I’ve come to accept it, but I’ll never understand why the members themselves wouldn’t want to play more of their songs, especially because there are so many great songs, this band isn’t a “just their singles are good” kind of band. It’s such a waste of a great catalogue. But like I said, it’s their choice..

I don't think Matt is a better guitarist or vocalist either. He's great, I love him and he's def what they need now if they want to be an active band but it's not like the difference in their live shows has been astonishing.

Yeah but to many people, they are

EDIT: Case and point, I saw Blink with a group of friends in 2016. Maybe half of them knew more than just the singles. Blink is a big "lets go get drunk and have a good time" band to many people.

That’s most arena-sized bands though. It wouldn’t kill the casual fans to sit through like 4 songs that they don’t know, but adding 4 deep cuts would make a hell of a difference for the big fans

I’d disagree, I think blink is one of those bands where if you like their singles then you more than likely enjoy their non singles (they were just as good, imo). Now, I think there are people who ONLY know the singles, but thats a different story. I also think it’s annoying that they seem to care more about catering to the average concert goers experience rather than what the fans want, but oh well I’ve given up hope that they’ll ever extend their set list and/or change the set lists

What does he say at the end there? "That's why you play in a band?"

Agreed. They are just a different band without Tom. Not saying they are better or worse now but you’re right the specialness just isn’t there anymore.

Doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy this version of the band but give me Tom when he actually cares and wants to be there vs. Skiba any day of the week.

It's not blink to me until Matt learns to sing the entire chorus of Dumpweed as one long shitty unintelligible word and ruins Always by changing the lyrics to masturbating references

Wow, Screeching Weasel. Haven't heard that name in awhile.

I had Mass Giorgini as a professor in undergrad. He played bass for Screeching Weasel for awhile (along with many others haha). He's a really cool guy though. I always talked with him about his experience producing Anti-Flag's Underground Network album and him mastering People or the Gun. At the time he also had his band Squirtgun active. Not sure if they're still around though.

He never mentioned anything about Ben Weasel. I believe you though lol.

Well I didn't want to start this.I wanted to point on that influence and that you can hear heavily on Cheshire Cat,at least I personally do.And ,,My Brain Hurts" sounds unbelievable for 1991 release.Jason is right about Ben Weasel though. But Iam not gonna lie,I still do love Screeching Weasel and still listen to them because of memories and fun I had with albums.

Nah, you didn’t start anything haha. I was just reflecting. I hadn’t heard that name in awhile. Idk much at all about Ben Weasel either.

But i do I remember Mark Hoppus would always a screeching weasel shirt back in the day though haha.

I'm a total Skiba apologist when it comes to blink but man that was rough. He had a fucking throat surgery recently though. He also doesn't look very excited playing anymore.

    Things have changed.

Pretty rough performance all the way around, except Travis obviously.

There also needs to be a "no fedora" policy, at least on stage.
