This is a pretty shitty way to hear about a band for the first time. I'd be devastated if one of my musical heroes died like this.

I loved Scott’s art as much as his music. Such a unique and humorous style. Remember the beard designs they were auctioning off a while ago? And the boner trees, lol.

 

Oh believe me I know. Also he could have been having a hard time then and masking it for all I know. It was just that the “chipper-ness” in his voice juxtaposed with the knowledge of the current day was ... hard.

 

just finding out this exists oh my fucking GOD

 

living with these illnesses, whether it's mental health, addiction, or anything in that area, its just a massive gigantic battle to make it through a day and live to see the next. there needs to be something done about it in music to support those who need the help.

 

Micheal from Passion Pit started some sort of company or group about it a couple years ago. Haven’t heard anything about it in a while but hope it’s still around.

I follow him very closely and I'm not sure how that's going, he said he had to do this last winter tour just to be able to afford health care costs. Which is absolutely insane because touring is what has landed him in hospitals time and time again. It's a sad state of affairs when he has to put himself through that torment just to afford treatment

 

Woah, thank you this is perfect.

 

What hurts me about this is that a man who'd given so much to others through his lyrics and music felt he had no better option than to wander off and die, alone and in confusion and fear.

But perhaps this is the only peace he wanted anymore. All the mental health resources in the world might have just prolonged his pain, and who are we to say differently.

 

Having an impossible time dealing with this one. Loved this band, one of my favorite lyricists, and their music helped me in so many ways. Just feeling drained this morning.

Between the personal attacks on Brian Fallon in his Get Hurt review, to this, I really cannot stand Ian Cohen.

Someone did on Pitchfork's account with the announcement of his death. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have even mentioned what Ian said. What he wrote in that review is indefensible and I hope he's learned from it.
