not to be one those self-righteous kids who only likes the seven inch, but Won't Be Pathetic Forever and Salinger absolutely bang still

  3. I remember being really surprised when they stopped playing “Salinger” regularly. For some reason I had thought that would be like “Saturday” is for Fall Out Boy, something they play every time no matter how old it gets. As much as I like that EP, I’m glad I was wrong about that.

    The EP definitely feels dated

Yeah like, WBPF and the Distances split are fine enough but they definitely feel dated just because of how clearly embedded in that era of pop punk they are. The synths, the “breakdowns”, the more stream of conscious lyrical style, etc.

I’d say that Salinger is legitimately great though. Very much a glimpse at where they would go with The Upsides.

One of my favorite jokes on WLIIA is when Colin says “We’ll be right back to your movie ‘Innuendo’ a documentary about Italian suppositories in just a moment but first have we got a deal for you!”

Still can't work out what my favourite song on this record is. Today I think it's Pyramids of Salt.

PS does anyone know why more songs from the record are not on Youtube? Just a strategy to boost streaming numbers?

I'm in Australia so it might be different but from what I can tell only Sister Cities and Pyramids of Salt are on there.

Haven’t been in the thread since I saw them on Saturday night. Some thoughts:
    1. That crowd was nuts. There was an *almost* wall of death during We Look Like Lightning. I got punched in the jaw. That song, Cul-De-Sac, Coffee Eyes and Came Out Swinging were enough to wear me out for the rest of the show, so I kinda just hung out in the back for the rest, except Screen Door.
    2. All of the new songs are great live, but energy wise Pyramids of Salt takes the cake.
    3. The lack of Local Man in the setlist was noticeable, I always thought it would stay in the setlist. I guess I Don’t Like Who I Was Then might be taking its place.
    4. Soupy was noticeably happier. The way he shouted “NEW YOOOOOOORK” after Pyramids was a pleasant surprise. Glad to see he’s so stoked.

Overall, the show was awesome. All the openers were great, although Worriers lacked energy.

I'm not kidding when I say I wish I was still young enough to think getting punched in wall of death is awesome

I'm 27 and went to a show recently and I was so pissed at the kids jumping from the terrace on the back of my head to crowf surf. I finally felt my age at a concert.

The crowd was old and very tame when I saw TWY last month. It was great.

I get mad just being at concerts. "Man, I should have just stayed home. What time is it? 9:30? Where the hell is the headliner? I paid $20 for this? I want to sit down. I wish I was in bed. Look at these kids, so young and full of hope. I don't want to ache. I'm going to stand in the back and drink a $10 beer."
