Hahaha I was most definitely kidding. I’m quoting Matty, not myself.

I feel like somehow, and i have no idea how they'd pull this off, but it wouldn't surprise me if the song(s) they're gonna release on june 1st are already out there somewhere. Like some hidden pixel on their site is clickable and leads to a secret page with links on it or something. i feel like it would be such a 1975 thing to do to be like "yeah these songs have actually been floating on the internet for a while, you just didn't follow the instructions to find them"

That’s what I enjoy about being here. There’s been so many albums I was made aware of here first, sometimes even months before the actual announcement. I’m not a huge fan of surprises.

i know a lot of people get mad about long rollouts but like, truthful it doesn't bother me. there's plenty of other things to listen to that having to wait for music i like doesn't bother me. like, whether an album is announced three months or a month early, it's still coming out on the same day

this is one of those things that's tough to discuss but I'm going to do my best because I love @sophos34 and I know how he feels in regards to seeing an artist you love get nitpicked or feeling like you're kinda getting ganged up on, even if that isn't actually the case.

music forum, subjectivity, your opinion, yadda yadda yeah sure all of that's true and we all have our own tastes and we all have personal attachments and those of us that have struggled with mental health or addiction or have seriously contemplated ending it all can have an extremely hard time watching the art that we believe saved us get criticized without it feeling kind of personal. I wrote something like this in the supporter Q&A thread a while back and it was poorly worded and somewhat emotionally manipulative so I'm going to try my very best to not do that here. I love TWY. have since the end of 2009. a lot of people love them. a lot of people don't. I have close friends on here, or at the very least people I respect a whole lot, who don't like them and will give their (completely valid!!!) reasons for not liking them. for me, they're a band that pulled me away from tying a noose in 2014. it's a mental tightrope I have to walk daily, trying to get the chemicals in my head to understand that it's all "just an opinion" and that no one is meaning it as personal against me, but if it were that easy I wouldn't be taking 4 different medications to help cope with that. I think that kind of thing happens a lot on here and for the most part I don't think anyone is being malicious when they try and engage with these things but I think its fair to maybe be patient with some of us who can't exactly look at certain artists or albums under a subjective lens like we think we can.

I'm not saying you cant dislike something, of course, I'm not saying you cant outright hate something you do you, obviously, I recognize that I and others have probably shit on a band or album you love without consideration and I'm sorry for that. I know we're trying to move on but I think it's an important topic to have. people can be rightfully defensive of an artists work but I think there needs to be a better dialogue about this than just shutting each other down. maybe I'm rambling and ill chalk that up to a sleepless night and a rough day of work yesterday.

Lol there's literally one on this site: Album Release Dates • chorus.fm

i mean like, as soon as an album date is decided, whether it's a month out or a year out. as soon as a date is decided and locked in. or even before that. record labels should keep an updated list of every release they have planned

To be fair, only like 1 out of every 100 releases is like this one though.

very true. but i mean just in general! the whole "release cycle" thing is stupid. in my ideal world, either every album would drop the second it's done or we know when it's planned to be out immediately when people know

Jesus fucking Christ my yall are awful comment was a fucking joke but now I'm not kidding, y'all are fucking awful. I made how many posts last night about the sequencing and I'm supposed to be thrilled that I have to wake up and make the same fucking arguments again? And I'm gonna get made fun of for calling it exhausting?

Thanks for ruining the one thread I could use to escape my hell hole life and talk about something that means a lot to me.

Some of you need to learn how to treat people who suffer from mental illness and addiction. Straight up.

this is a thread specifically, and exclusively dedicated to an album. it's no wonder people are going to discuss whatever that album is about. sure it "clutters the thread" but it's really not hard to just scroll past posts you don't care about lol. the discussion on the meaning of the album name or whatever is tedious but the time it takes to scroll past (or just take a break from a thread) is far less than the effort of making a post about it.

@Jason Tate I’m assuming there’s absolutely no way you can discuss this, but knowing that the single is with a few radio stations as we speak...is it likely that said song could maybe drop before whatever’s happening on June 1st? Or rather that it IS what’s happening on June 1st?

  16. I know no dates. I maintain I'd be surprised as fuck if this entire build-up is for a single on June 1st. That seems, stupid.

June 1st gotta be the album announcement and maybe some tour dates? Hopefully we get the single before that.

Last few pages of this thread brought me back to the ap.net I loved and hated circa '08-'10-ish. Not sure if that's a good thing or not but I hope zionthelion is doin alright these days.

I really hope they're on the Music Midtown fest in Atlanta which would be (if as it usually is) the 3rd weekend in September. They played shaky knees 3 years ago and were fantastic and drew a nice big crowd.

I mean I was only certain about June 1st being the full album because of what Jason said earlier in this thread, seemed like he knew something we didn't...now I'm pretty worried it's just a single.
