I see this, for sure. No one says “I’m sick of hearing all these positive comments about this album.”

This is literally a music forum. I don’t really want to feed into this, but at the moment it feels as though if you say even the slightest negative thing that somebody here disagrees with, there’s an argument on your hands. Come on. Nobody can possibly take away what this album means to you, and what it’s done for people. Implying that people don’t care about how an album helped you during a dark time because they don’t like the pacing of it is a bit of an extreme leap to make.

Really feel like a lot of people are missing the point of a forum if they think anybody who dislikes an album or song shouldn’t be able to share that opinion because it doesn’t align with your own.

Kinda sad that I wrote like 600 words last night about the actual themes of the MFC rollout as a jumping off point, but everyone's insulting each other and talking about sequencing instead.

Can I just say I actually appreciated that and never got round to discussing it as I was busy. I was somebody who initially found myself rolling my eyes at the marketing for this, but your insight actually intrigued me and had me excited.

Thanks! I think it was a fair criticism that some of us (myself included) were getting frustrated with the lack of music but not fully engaging with the rollout, so I wanted to do some more work to dive into the actual themes.

    all we have is time

I personally wouldn’t change a thing about this record, but there’s no reason to get extremely defensive when someone else disagrees. Not everybody likes the same stuff. It’s inevitable. Who cares, and enjoy it yourself

Absolutely. In the past I’ve been a fan of a fair few bands that do extensively cryptic/long-winded, and sometimes downright daft campaigns for their albums. It’s exhausting, and lately I haven’t been as involved with music as I would like to be. In lieu of that, I only really skimmed the promos briefly for MFC, because of that mindset. I really enjoyed your discussion of the themes, though. Dare I say it...I’m hyped.

It’s very meta. Instead of engaging with the art, as it were, people are arguing online. It’s all a part of the marketing scheme!

They are really going all out with this one. It’s impressive.

Mfc could be the infinite jest of music. People will likely say it's overlong and pretentious in its depictions of how the meeting point of communication, convenience, and entertainment creates the schism that drives us apart.

what if this band just likes writing songs and there isn't actually extra meaning behind it

the last album could also be the infinite jest for music just for how long and exhausting it is to finish.

Place ya bets. How many songs? If it ain’t 16, it ain’t them. Though for some reason I anticipate less this time round. 12?

I've always wanted a band to put up a countdown for like 30 days and just to fuck with people, release whatever it was about early.

First one was 16, last one was 17... 18's my pick.

it's actually just one long song that you can't reorder so nobody can complain about sequencing

I mean, technically speaking, their deluxe including the EPs was like what, 39?! I feel like this time round it’ll be a more concise effort, though the fact the EP was scrapped because it became a bigger thing lends me to believe otherwise.

tbh it'd be cool if every release date was in a book somewhere, whether it's out in a week or out in a year. i'd rather wait a long time than have stupid speculation for months

Let's not get into that again. Yes, the deluxe edition included the EPs and remixes, but their debut album is 16 songs.
