Yeah it will either pass $1 billion today or tomorrow. Definitely breaking TFA's record for fastest to $1B.

Probably. There were reports of Michael Douglas on set so they are probably going to have an even bigger roster of characters than they did for IW.

Something I love is that they came so close to getting the gauntlet off Thanos until Star Lord loses it about Gamora. Before that, Doctor Strange looked into all future scenarios and saw only one way they could win. If we assume that this one way was Thanos actually had to win, that means there was literally no possible scenario that Star Lord wouldn't react that way about Gamora.

Or perhaps Star-Lord lost his cool in every scenario they would have won and that's why those scenarios were part of the 14 million. It's just that there was one way they could win once Star-Lord ruined their chances of winning early.

Yea that's what I mean: my point is just there was no scenario where he wouldn't lose his cool after he found out about Gamora.

  9. (This is why stories that use seeing the future/time travel/paradoxes all sorta crumble under their own rules.)

  11. That ... is kind of an issue. It's why I hate how much magic technology is in these films and wish there were more grounded stories. Alas. I just ignore it until it gets too annoying and then I roll my eyes at the writers trying to write their way in and out of corners they built.

Im rewatching most of the MCU films lately, and in Iron Man, when he first gets the red and gold suit up to that village, and gets shot down by the tank, the shot if the helmet all scratched up is so great.

Tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day (FCBD)!

If you have time tomorrow, find the nearest participating comic book shop and get one of the free comics offered (or multiple, if your shop allows), including...

Avengers by Jason Aaron (Star Wars; Mighty Thor) and Sara Pichelli (Ultimate Spider-Man)! Also featuring a Captain America story by Ta-Nehisi Coates (Black Panther) and Leinel Yu (Secret Invasion).

Other FCBD options this year include Amazing Spider-Man, Pokemon, Adventure Time, Ghost in the Shell, Riverdale, SpongeBob, Power Rangers, and so much more. Some shops also offer various sales.

Remember, comics are a good time!

Tried taking my 3 year old to see this and he tapped out right around when they were getting to Wakanda.

Also there was a fireworks show going on nearby the theater and people freaked out a little because we thought it could be gunshots. Sucks that that’s what you have to worry about when you go to the movies now.

Sucks we had to leave early because I could actually hear them talking this time

I have read a lot of this thread and agree with a lot of the points about thematic weight, inconsistent character arcs, and overall morality of this universe. I don’t think they are as horrible as some have stated, but they are present and noticeable.

Couple things that I thoroghly enjoyed that I think are getting lost.

The ability to interweave this many characters into a coherent story was really cool. And I think about as good as it could be.

The pacing was nuts. Can’t remember the last movie I watched that just never let up.

Thanos was a way cooler villain that I anticipated. His bad chin included.

For a blockbuster. Giving it a hard B+.
For a movie. It’s prob just above average. And I think that’s okay.

Last thing. This universe and almost all of its output have been so much better than everything DC has done. Minus Nolan Batman and maybe WW...which I think is perceived better than it might have been. That third act kinda sucks.

Anyone saying that justice league or BvS hold a candle to this...no friggin way. MCU is so much farther along than the other “universes”.

Suspension of disbelief with this stuff is interesting because like people don't become The Hulk or Spidey when exposed to radiation they die, I am just always fascinated how we're like okay I believe in talking trees and raccoons capable of interstellar flight but you gotta draw the line somewhere

Revisiting ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ After ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

This is actually pretty solid article.
Glosses over some of the weaker parts of Last Jedi but the point stands.

Until Marvel raises the stakes or changes the formula. The movies will continuously underwhelm emotionally.

But...If they decide to make an X-men universe as good as phase 3 of the MCU. I’m gonna be pretty happy. Not beyond thrilled, but happier than I am now about what’s happened to that material

Also, 99% of the universe just happens to speak English

X-Men and Fantastic 4 are likely just going to merge with MCU. I could see Deadpool continuing in its current form, they just might throw in random characters from the MCU every once in a while.

I’d really like them to be separate. Then have a merge event after like 12 movies. Ha

There is so much good x men material.

I also feel like x men are overpowered for the universe. As it stands.

Oh I definitely think they should keep them segregated for a while. Best scenario would be a similar situation to how Guardians was handled, have a couple of standalones then get brought in to an Avengers movie once they're fully established.
