Can't believe people can like the first season and then think these two episodes so far aren't in line/up to par with that season. Some people only want kills, explosions, fighting and absolutely no storytelling apparently. Don't say this story is boring, cause it's a continuation of everything the first season did and I see no difference in levels of entertainment between the two so far.

Also funny that those who dislike it and complain weekly are always first in the thread to comment. Makes 0 sense.

I can have an opinion. I like that they are continuing the story it’s just so drawn out and boring. Sorry bud. Also I comment while I watch it Sunday night. You’re right though I should wait and comment 4 days after I watch it.

When he first came up in S1, this was all I could think of when he came on screen for a while. Then I shook it off and recognised his great acting ability.

Yeah, I'm done with this show. This storytelling is purposefully obtuse for the sake of being seen as clever. Great concept, poor execution.

I’ll start with I’m not your bud. Secondly, the complaint that it’s “drawn” out and is a chore to get through? Lol, the episodes are still only one hour. The quality of the show has remained consistent. You’re not entertained cause there’s not enough action. And that’s what I’ve mostly gathered from all the complaints in here. No real substance to the criticisms, just trying to sound above it.

Stop telling me what my opinion is because it’s not the lack of action it’s the fact that they’re dragging out a half hour of show into an hour, bud.

it’s 2018. there’s no reason why shows have to be 68 minutes long anymore lol. it works for literally zero of the shows that do it.

You’ve never watched a show longer than 60 minutes that you enjoy? Also what does what year it is have anything to do with the length of a show haha

Yeah, the last two middle school responses again made no substantial criticism, just the same two trying to talk as if this show is beneath them. Now it sounds like television as a whole is beneath them. Everything should be 20 minute recap style YouTube videos. It’s 2018, bud. Everybody’s doing it.

Curry, man. Bud. Brother. You need to relax. The criticisms in here are all valid. The length of each episode and the dullness of the story are reasonable things to critique. I’ve read articles and spoken to friends and if there’s one major critique anyone has about this show, its that it drags on like hell. I’ve heard and seen it said dozens of times.

Also getting extremely defensive about this and trying to prevent discussion is way more “middle school” than anything thats been said here

listen to, like, any criticism discussing television in the last, idk, five years lol. sepinwall, greenwald, herman, etc. pretty much any tv critic at whatever publication have discussed regularly the problem with “super sized episodes” becoming a regular thing. but yeah, they’re middle schoolers too, i guess. fucking dork lol

I actually dont have a big problem with longer episodes. I’d be a hypocrite to say I do, since I yearned for long sprawling episodes of the new Twin Peaks and The Leftovers while they were still playing. Also been binging the Wire and I never finish an hour-long episode without wanting more.

With this show, however, I oftentimes find myself checking how much longer is left in the episode. The overall plot develops slowly but there are also minor dramatic shifts at any moment’s notice, and as details are given to the audience to study, my mind wanders to a place that actually feels entertaining, all-encompassing, and more heartfelt. The turns in this show don’t feel like anything. This show’s ever-weaving plot feels like a damn chore sometimes. That- more than the episode length- is what damages the show for me.

Show is convoluted for convultedededed sake. I thought I remembered enjoying the first season, but the more I look back on it, I just liked the concept and @Matt Chylak nailed it with "This storytelling is purposefully obtuse for the sake of being seen as clever. Great concept, poor execution."

Yeah I'm not going to make a blanket statement that any episode of television longer than ~45 minutes is bad, regardless of what critics say. But I also don't see any problems with this show from a length or pacing perspective. Opinions, amirite.

these episodes have made up more than half the entire series of collateral on netflix. and it’s told maybe 1/10 the story. just fyi.

Honestly I think it's great that the show is willing to take things at such a slow, deliberate pace. For this kind of science fiction story I actually prefer it in a lot of ways.

Also, for me, watching this series is a pretty immersive experience. I actively look forward to it every week just to spend time in this world and see what new details about the world are revealed and watch the great performances. It's unlike anything else out there right now.

So I really enjoy it. It's why I'm still watching it. If I hated it or thought it was bad or slow or obtuse or whatever, I'd probably stop wasting a "super-sized" chunk of my time every Sunday night watching it and do something else. But that's just me.

I have actively avoided watching these weekly so I can just binge it and get to the good parts anyway. Haven’t seen a single episode of season 2 aside for the season 1 recap which promptly made me switch programs lol
