Meanwhile, 6'7" Brock Osweiler has a TON of passes batted at the line

I know it was trajectory related or something like that but it's still interesting to me

When is height going to finally been dead as a factor for QB's that negatively effects their evaluation? Obviously if they're only like 5'9" then yeah that might be an issue but if they're at least 5'11" or 6ft then whatever

I think being taller than like 6'4" is more of a negative than positive with regars to batted passes and interceptions. Easier for defenders to see where the QB is looking

I mean, that was probably true of guys like RGIII too, but its not indicative that height isnt a problem, it means they dont stay in the pocket consistently enough for height to be a problem and they take every snap in the shotgun.

Which you can get away with in the Big 12 where nobody plays defense, but gets you killed in the AFC North where teams have 6'6", 290lb dudes who run 40s just as fast as him on their ends.

I think Baker's got the best shot to be like Russell Wilson (who also doesnt seem to have height hurt him), but, he's definitely got vision problems at times.

Like here, he's got #3 on a dig route if he plants his feet and throws...instead he scrambles and makes a different play. In the NFL, that same play is 100% a sack, and decent odds for a strip sack.

My alternative is Hue is an inept moron and Dorsey hired Haley to takeover in the middle of the season.

  7. I agree, but that’s what we all said when reports about Browns taking him came out. No one really bought it.

I think Baker will have a fine career as long as coaching doesn't screw him up. Was surprised he went #1 but I wouldn't have been mad if he ended up on the Jets (assuming Darnold went #1)

    This is entirely plausible.

I think Baker and Darnold ended up in the right places for them both.

I hope this is a trend the Jags start: draft LSU #7 every year.

It sucks Cleveland drafted Baker, cause now I just feel like a douchebag hater if I say my honest opinion haha. I want the Browns to succeed more than I don't trust Mayfield as a project there.

As far as the "short" argument, I think it just affects how they have to play. It is a basic disadvantage for sure - most short QB get weeded out in college because of difficulties staying calm in the pocket when they have trouble seeing over the line.

However, if a short QB made it this far, it means they have learned how to make up fot it. Most likely he compensated by getting very good at shifting subtly in the pocket to create clear passing lanes he can see through (see: Wilson, Brees doesn't run but he definitely has very involved footwork, etc.)

It's the best place for him. Behind tyrod, with Haley
