To me it just reads as another example of Kanye's PROFOUND lack of understanding of both systematic and institutional prejudice and American history writ large.
He buys into the Candace Owens "mental slavery" bullshit and it seems like his implication here is "slaves could have stopped it if they really put their minds to it" ? which is just... jesus

This is what happens when you believe the false equivalence that both sides are equal.

That TMZ video is fascinating. I'm guessing that was filmed just today?

As for the interview, I'm disappointed in Charlamagne for staying so relaxed during it. This is the man who once said to Kanye's face that Yeezus was a trash album, that he's sold his soul to the Kardashians, and that he's acting spoiled. Where was that Charlamagne?

  9. Yeah that TMZ show is on at like noon on weekdays so it was probably just a few hours ago

i feel like it's a weird win win situation for kanye. shitty publicity gets him streams and if it flops he can blame people for not believing in 'free thought'. we truly are in the shittiest of times.

Can we all agree this is deeper than publicity/“trolling” yet?

    - Kanye, probably

  16. My response to those folks at this point is that if this is for publicity, in some ways that's kind of worse when you factor in all the pain and harm he's causing.

I have a handful of women fans who still LOVE and support Chris Brown. They go to his concerts.

    Yeah, it's weird.

  22. Chris Brown's crimes were also against black women, who are the last people on earth to get defended or receive empathy/justice/etc. By literally anyone.

While Kanye's record with misogyny isn't great, what we're seeing here affects a lot of other people.

There are folks who will always follow Kanye and any other idol they might have blindly, but I have to imagine that will make some sort of a difference.

Kids will not care. Aside from Meek, SixNine was far and away the biggest hit that played at prom. I regularly talk shit on Chris Brown and I’d say almost all of my students remain fans. They make excuses or they don’t pay attention to personal lives.

Honestly tho idk how many kids find Ye relevant outside of the dorky white kids who like hip hop. No one speaks about him, even before this

    Just a friendly reminder

Kids in Philidelphia really like being screamed at during prom huh
