Yeah, I hate how good his chorus is in it.

Kanye wanted "Famous" to be the radio single, it actually was pushed to radio and failed

If you think that Kanye has anything guiding him outside of pure delusion and narcissism..you're going to be disappointed. I've always been a fan of his music but he's been a tedious personality for at least the last ten years. It's apparent in the controversy that follows him and none of this starts or ends with Trump...it's just a bit more personal to the majority of us now that we disagree with his approach/position so vehemently. While I understand Kanye's perspective on black republicans and lack of change to black communities...he's chosen the route that will generate headlines vs. making any actual progress in the world.

I'm not surprised he's close/friendly with Trump...they have the exact same personality. They are both loud, brash, narcissists that are more concerned with their own brand, the headlines they generate that they are the effects of their actions. Kanye & Trump are disillusioned by the pedestal they put themselves and have found common-ground painting themselves as the "anti-establishment" figure that's going to shake up music/Washington/etc. It's again more about who's talking about them and less about the actual politics being discussed.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

I wish it was more complex but I seriously doubt it.

With all the movements going around, I am absolutely baffled that Chris Brown is still making music.

Trust me Tate, I am all aboard the 'Fuck Chris Brown train' too. You're right, others could of done that. There is that video of Chances version of Waves. Can't say i'm too crazy about it. But there are plenty of guys with the right voice that could of sung it.

He should've kept Chance on Waves singing the chorus.

Also, he's delusional blaming the T-Swift moment for him not getting played on radio. "Power," "Monster," "All of the Lights," "N***** i Paris" and "Mercy" all did great on the radio, and those were all years after the VMAs.

Father Stretch My Hands was big on hip hop radio in dc for a very long time after released. Still sometimes hear it on the radio

Forgot about FourFiveSeconds too. That song was huge on the radio.

  14. Hit 6 on Top 40.

He just didn’t have the right song on those past two albums. At the time we thought he knew and was actively going against radio. Guess that was wrong.

I'm sure a part of him was irked that "Panda" became a huge hit and his songs didn't

I think he wants both. To be artistically progressive and make waves on radio. And I’d say as a forum we probably want the same, but know that that stuff doesn’t happen (generally). You get songs that transcend, but I agree Pablo and Yeezus don’t have your standard radio fare.

Also I’ll take a 7 song album in the vein of “Real Friends”

I have enjoyed the last two albums, but I totally agree that neither album had a track that was a real radio single. None of the songs felt clean enough for the radio. Everything about TLOP felt way too chaotic for radio success.

  19. Cool, but the common argument and discussion at the time was not that he wanted both, it was that he was actively shunning the radio and popular music culture and trying to step outside and/or around it. That it was his In Utero, a rebellion against everything that his previous successes were. That argument of his intent and sentiment turns out to have been, apparently, wrong.

I guess what I got from that era was that he still wanted radio success but he wanted it on his own terms, with his own sound. No more “Gold Digger”. More “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”.

Yeah, that's weird. I remember him being so proud at the MBDTF release party that it hit number 1 without a ton of radio support.

With something like TLOP, he was so proud of going against the grain and not having a physical release for it. And without that, he had no deadlines, so he kept on tinkering and bungled its released. And as said, there were no singles on that that were going to light the world on fire. The album did extremely well, but apparently that's not enough. It just shows Kanye wants to be the center of attention all the time and can't stand when he's not.

The whole promo cycle leading up to Yeezus he kept saying "I don't wanna be on radio anymore." Then 6 months later he's whining "Why wasn't Black Skinhead the massive hit that it deserved to be." He's constantly contradicting himself.
