Definitely delusional. I’m sure A4 will dive into it more when the survivors confront him and try to undo what he did. I have a feeling they’ll pull a Rick/Negan and try to convince him that his line of thought is wrong and that other ways of preserving life are possible.

Or they’ll kill him and he’ll join all of the other villains.

Oh, I am all about that. But keep Chris Evens/Rogers dead. Keep Stark dead. Don't rely on a time stone or something else and bring them back. It creates this false feeling going forward. If in the next movie they all come back, and then in the next MCU movie, a hero dies, I feel like this event creates a distraction where I won't fully believe they are gone for good.

I feel like I'm not articulating what I'm thinking very well.

I mean if we're just talking stones movies then it's Captain America 1, Thor 1, Avengers 1, Thor: The Dark World, GOTG 1, Age of Ultron, and Doctor Strange.

Kind of the first Captain America as well

I'd much rather that there was a mentor figure in at least one of them but I agree that for the deaths to be THAT emotional, they gotta stay dead (I mean the original Avengers)

Yeah I edited to add Cap 1 and Thor 1 because we see the tesseract, just not the actual stone in its stone form. So technically they count.

I don't think they're going to kill Stark. I think they're definitely going to kill Cap.

So, not sure why everyone keeps saying they all died. Unless you actually saw their bodies dead on the ground or actually physically killed, then they aren't dead (except Gamora due to the way she died, i.e. sacrifice for the soul stone). There's moments in the comics where souls were transported to another dimension within the Soul Gem, which is what's happening here. I fully believe 2 of the 3 main OG Avengers (IM, Cap, Thor) will die to bring those people out of the Soul Gem. Doesn't take away the weight of watching these people just disappear and seeing the others reactions. This will still have a grave impact on them regardless of if they all are able to come back.

I jumped on board now because now I have moviepass so it was free. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and as I said my friend wanted to go do I went with him. I was definitely not the one who wanted to, but I did, so now I have opinions on it lol

And to me it’s not the same at all as the examples you made. It’s not like a continuation and jumping into a story you have no idea about. The heroes are prevelant enough in pop culture that you don’t really need background info on them. There wasn’t a storyline that was confusing or needed explaining. In many ways it was a stand-alone movie and I can say as someone who DIDNT see the first ones, that you don’t HAVE to see them to enjoy the movie!
Sure maybe I didn’t enjoy them on the same ~level~ as those who are invested, but it’s still enjoyable as far as movies go.

And even though I’ve said it five times I guess I’ll say it again. It’s one thing to post a spoiler in a thread and it’s another’s thing entirely to respond directly when someone says “oh I haven’t seen these movies “ and your response is “oh well the one that’s still in heaters ends with blah blah blah” like what? That’s a dick move and I stand by that take. There are others who disagree clearly but that really won’t change my mind. The person even apologized (which I appreciate) so clearly they know it wasn’t the best move.

I definitely think Cap is so fucked in the next movie. Stark they will keep because he would be a good Fury-esque type character

Is it safe to assume that they are not taking Thanos into omnipotent range like in the comics? He seems like he maintains his regular power and physical body while the stones and gauntlet (which became fried after using all 6 stones at once) are the only thing that shows the power. I’m okay with that but it means we probably won’t see any celestials or elder gods.

    Because that’s how..the movie..portrays it??? Lol

I appreciate your explanation (and theories!) but the comics and films are two separate entities. You shouldn’t have to read the comics to understand the films.

We don't know for sure what's happened yet so saying dead is just easier than speculation but I agree that it's not as simple as that. I take it you believe that Soulworld appeared in the movie?

Tony's dream about being a father marks him for death for me, idk.

Eh, but the films pull from the comics. And the movie didn't portray it that way either. They just disappeared. I think there's a distinction.

I would rather Rogers die and Stark live. Let Stark be with Pepper and Rogers with Carter.

This would be intriguing. The heroes still experienced defeat and now will forever reflect on it so death or just the soul world are satisfying.

Also with Red Skull talking about how the Soul Stone is unique in it's power compared to the other stones, leads me to believe there's much more to it.

I don't know, I can see Capt going for the inevitable promotion for Buck/Falcon. But for Tony, I can see him "quitting" because of Potts/fatherhood (considering their last conversation as he was heading into space). But that allows them to bring him back as cameos in SM2, etc.

No they disintegrated/turned to ash lol deff gives off the appearance of death to me. More so than if they just snap disappeared
Genuine question why would she be young in soulworld?

I can see why they wouldn’t want to bring Celestials into the movies right now cause then it’s kind of like, why not just have Strange or someone else who might be able to know of their existence just try to contact them and ask them to handle Thanos? Seems to easy

Yea I think the comics get into super weird territory that the movies aren’t gonna try to tackle.

    1. Wiped from existence in the current universe doesn't imply actual death to me, especially with comic stories. There's different dimensions, etc.

    2. Could just be how her soul is depicted. Honestly don't have a better answer for that, but it makes sense he would see that place during that moment, and that Gamora would be the only one in there (due to being sacrificed for the stone), and the others hadn't disappeared yet.
