Idk for me, I know all these movies have a good amount of one liners, but the first GotG was just one liner after one liner, I like the second GotG more!

    Guardians 2 is #1.

Ragnarok, Black Panther, Guardians, Civil War, Winter Soldier, and Iron Man are the rest of the top tier. Maybe in that order for me?

No clue where this sits yet. Probably somewhere in that top tier, though. Then add Avengers and Iron Man 3 for a top 10.

If only Big Hero 6 was MCU, that would always be number 1.

I rewatched it yesterday for the first time in theatres. There’s some really good character stuff in the first half but yea it descents into nonsense action that gets old. Even the birth of Vision is kind of awkward / poorly explained.

Btw, the "Further Reading" recommendations post we've done for each comic book film should get posted in here today.

Dunno if we've developed anyone yet who actually actively looks forward to those, lol. But yeah. Sorry for the delay. Hopefully some of you read and enjoy those recs when they're posted.

Just saw this last night and absolutely loved it! Definitely one of my top MCU movies. They did a good job in flow and managing all the different characters appearing, while also throwing in great action all over the place. They even had some good surprises and a great post-credits scene that definitely makes me even more excited for 2019.

Winter Soldier, Homecoming, Ragnarok, Black Panther, Infinity War for me, probably. Not in that order except for Winter Soldier being #1.

I wanted to take the hour drive to the IMAX but mine and the wife's schedule won't allow for it til later in the week; went to the local theater instead. I'm more concerned with watching it before I get spoiled than seeing it in IMAX at this point. Had a feeling something was off with the way the movie looked on screen, and once the credits started to roll, I confirmed the left side of the screen had the whites blown out of contrast/washed out and the far right was normal. So that was irritating. So I watched it in less than optimal conditions. Phooey on that.

Movie was still wonderful though. Thought it brought a proper weight and emotional heaviness that has been built upon over the years.

Also JUST watched Black Panther on Thursday the day before they took it out of my theater and watched Ragnarok two nights ago. BP I enjoyed OK but Thor really worked for me.

I don't even remember anything that happened in Winter Soldier except for Nick Fury escaping by drilling a hole in the ground very quickly and nobody just going after him. I did not enjoy that film really.

Okay I saw this yesterday. It was my first MCU film
are we doing spoilers in here? Eh just in case
    WTF WAS THAT ENDING
What kinda movie ends with the bad guy winning
    And half the people dying
    Literally what.

And blah blah there’s a second part coming supposedly but I’m sorry normally if movies come in parts they SAY part 1 &2.
I think the ending was a cheap cop out but that’s just my opinion. I’ve cooled down a lot since seeing it lol

Like I rly liked the movie but the ending has me irked

I endorse referring to it as “the snappening”.

So Thor can summon the bifrost on command now, right?

When Groot picked up Stormbreaker to give it the handle, does that make him worthy since it still like Mjolnir, just a different shape?

Ending with Thanos winning makes the movie that much better IMO

The comparisons to The Empire Strikes Back that have been all over the internet (including in the RedLetterMedia review) are so apt. Not in terms of quality of the movie, obviously Empire is a better movie than IW, but in terms of the narrative and the way it ends on a cliffhanger with the antagonists victorious and the heroes having been decisively defeated, at least in the moment. It's the classic "heroes brought to their lowest point" moment in the story, only for the entire MCU.

I thought of ESB immediately, even though ESB ends with the good guys at least seemingly feeling hopeful, this is just, rip your heart out, stomp on it, roll credits. I loved it.

Thanos is the one that gets the hopeful, contemplative moment instead.

Totally agree with this. It's not often we get this kind of thing in a film so I think it's great.

I mean, how many other films of this scale end like this one? I think it's an apt comparison. No one is saying it's as brilliant as Episode 5, just that there aren't many films that have that kind of end.

This was your first MCU film? Not watched any before it?? If so; the emotional impact must have been non-existent.
