I saw Turnover at The Chapel in San Francisco back in October and they were good but the GN songs were just alright (at best) live.

    lol

I wish they realize the new style sucks and just go back to PV style

Good nature is a good album tho. But you really can’t expect them to digress as a band. All their albums are very different and it makes it easy to listen through bc of that.

I’m pretty sure they can tell the reaction to GN isn’t as great as PV. I don’t want them to make PV pt.II but I definitely want them to take some bold and exciting risks with the next record.

All they need to do is make live versions of the songs. They half-ass the GN songs so badly live. Seen em twice now and both times were exactly the same, laidback performances without an encore

This thread changes every 3 months it feels like. This record slaps and everyones gonna love it again come summer time. I agree that they can't pull the songs off live tho. Everyone needs to improve as musicians and they need someone who can help with the backing vocals so they can hit those harmonies.

I still think they're enjoyable live but it's definitely very laid back. Honestly I want to see them at a festival where I can just lay back in the grass somewhere I feel like that would be very enjoyable

It feels like Good Nature should have came out before Peripheral Vision.

I would say Good Nature is a solid record but just very forgettable.

GN songs are alright live if you dont mind swaying back and forth in place and singing the lyrics that you do know. But there is definitely a lack of energy in the venue almost it feels like during those songs. Now PV...very different story. I’d go again but only cause its like $20-25

Like I really dig GN, it’s a good record to chill out or get high to and I’ll def be playing it a lot this summer. That said, it’s clear the songs just don’t work out well live, not to mention it sounds like the band themselves aren’t very exciting live either from the sounds of things.

people being like "they should go back to their PV sound!" i don't get because it's not like it's any drastic evolution at all. a little more mellowed out but it's very obviously the same band

Exactly this. Nothing on PV is so groundbreakingly different than anything on GN.

Meh, I don’t think it’s the volume level of the songs that kills the performance. Quiet music can be very entrancing live, but it still should be technically impressive and have some atmosphere. They could vary drumming a bit and maybe add a keyboardist or something. A guitar solo here and there might break up the pace. Imo GN is a record that totally calls for jamming and live improvisation, shame they just stick to the same tired formula

Third edit: they need to jam the songs

haven’t seen these guys on tour in a while but I’ve been on a big PV/GN kick lately. Im surprised how much I like GN nowadays despite how much it bored me on the first listen.

they need to make sure not to lose the pop hooks on their next record. PV leaves 100x more of an impression than GN because of that. GN is great vibey background music, but PV gave a bit more substance.
