I'm glad they cropped it, dunno if an album cover needs to haphazardly say your band's name three times and the album title twice with another, unrelated song name on there for good measure

 

I actually like the full version better, more interesting.

Forgive me if was posted but I noticed HIL acknowledged yesterday's fiasco

 

It's pretty redundant to have their name on the cover 3 times.

 

I like the cropped album cover way more.

I like the idea of the blink-182 interstate sign, just not how it was executed in any of the art we've seen.

 

Same. Lots of color and activity is the best way of saying "this is a new blink, ignore the past 12 years please"

Ya absolutely. I'd love to see the interstate logo on some of their merch and clothing. I almost feel like they've done that or something really similar around the enema era...

 

The actual car and people are cool. I can get on board with that. The interstate sign and the "blink 182" in the background kills it for me though. Glad that got cropped.

About the Pop Disaster thing, I think I remember reading somewhere that Blink was upset that Green Day was (rightfully) being received so much better than them every night even though they were first, and also that Billie Joe and Tre wanted to use it as a way to show the world that they're still the best rock band in the world or something like that (their words). I don't think they got along super well, I think they genuinely had a rivalry at that point.

I remember in some behind the scenes thing I saw on Youtube there's a part where BJ and Mark exchange small talk backstage between the two sets and it's painfully awkward

 

Yeah I remember that. Genuinely one of the most awkward exchanges I've seen haha

 

The most awkward part was the Green Day legitimately blew Blink off the stage each night. I saw three dates of that tour and I felt bad for Blink. Green Day was at the peak of their live show.

 

Blink have written some great songs but Green Day (and I say this as a mid level fan) have written some great songs and are also one of the best live arena bands in the world.

 

Yeah, that cover is pretty bad.. Interstate sign I feel has been used before like someone stated above, and if it hasn't, it's a generic design that's be used way too much. The capital "B"'s in blink bother me too.

I had no idea Green Day had (has?) beef with blink

 

I lost respect for green day when they would say this shit and during the whole pop disaster tour stuff, they came off as jealous and whiny, and they're the ones who got mtv to sponsor the tour and maintain Their relevance, so idk why they were talking shit.

 

I doubt green day gives two shits about blink or any other pop-punk band that came after them.

 

Nowadays yeah, but 2002 was a different time, and they made it more than clear that they gave a shit

 

I still doubt they ever really cared. Blink was more of a media nuisance...a rivalry fans were creating more than anyone else. Green Day's discog outshines blink's in every way (even in 2002) and they're aware of that. They paved the way for blink. If we know that, they sure as hell do.

 

This just comes across as Mike trying too hard to be funny, which he does pretty regularly
