Man, I love this movie. The best superhero movie I've seen.

I'm happy that this was the post-Dark Knight film to get a non-technical nom. Especially in what's apparently a crowded field this year. I don't care about award stuff, but it's always fun seeing something I like get appreciated.

Also love that Shape of Water has the most nominations. Would love to see it win some big ones. What a delightfully weird and charming film.

Idk, I just watched this for the first time and it was alright, but not nearly as good as it was hyped up to be IMO. 2 hours of Hugh Jackman yelling and being pissed off.

I genuinely think I like it more than any MCU movie. I loved it so damn much. There’s little things I wish had been done differently, like the final baddie being literally anyone else (I think there’s a case to be made that they could have used Daken and made the same symbolic point, possibly with even more resonance), but I get what they were going for and ultimately the movie is still so damn good in spite of that.

I really love this movie when it leans into being a western with a twist, it kind of loses me when it veers into superhero territory. And some of the exposition just hurts (looking at you weird smart phone mini doc movie), but I'm still talking and thinking about this movie so it definitely did something right

This movie is still goddamn brilliant. Very nearly on par with The Dark Knight for my favorite superhero movie... as different as those two movies are, I think their common thread is that they still are rooted in superhero movie tropes, but ultimately transcend them. Watching this again and it’s still just as gripping as the first time.

The Dark Knight actually has a solid third act tho.

If I were to just see the first two acts of this movie I’d think, “damn, this is amazing and easily one of if not the best comic book movie,” but it really takes a dive in the third act imo

Really? But the 3rd act is where you finally get to see Logan unleash and that awesome tracking shot in the forest with him going nuts on the soldiers. I didn't see any dip in the quality.

If anything, I liked it more than Batman beating up cops and throwing dogs off the roof for the climax :-)

I can't even imagine disliking the third act of this.

I mean, sure, it looked really cool, but I don’t know how much I enjoyed it from a character standpoint. Keep in mind, I haven’t seen this since theaters so my memory is a little foggy, but I felt that it would have been a purer arc for Logan if he chose to accompany the children to Eden (despite his not wanting to) because he knew it was the right thing to do. I dunno, it just felt a lot less grounded than the rest of the movie imo

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My only real problem with the third act was the villain but I’ve talked enough about that in this thread.

The third act of Logan is good, y'all. X-24 rules. It's weird comic-book-y sci-fi goodness with a thematic thrust that, while a far cry from anything subtle, works beautifully for this character's final antagonist.

There isn’t a tiring moment in this movie. The only downside is that it can kill my mood and bum me out while watching the lead characters suffer like they do.

I haven't been able to get through this movie without tearing up at least a little bit at the ending.

I was thinking about this outstanding film today and really hope X-23 is carried over to the MCU in someway. The actress unfortunately most likely won’t be carried over but I really don’t want to wait another 10 years to see the character again.

Probably not getting a Laura for a long time, tbh. Probably at least a few years away from Logan being introduced anywhere in the MCU, & probably gonna spend some time w/ him as the only Wolverine before dabbling in characters like X-23.

On the plus side, since the MCU is probably gonna outlive our grandchildren, we are in all likelihood eventually getting a costumed "All-New Wolverine" version of Laura. So, when that happens in 2039, after they've burned through the Fantastic Four & Miles Morales, that'll be dope.
