  2. We might have made a mistake where these companies are incentivized to want these very things... their money is built on the engagement and outrage and hatred.

Both of these things are correct, yes. But, because much of the mainstream political discourse seems to be tied into partisanship and what that means as a result - "left liberal / Dem" vs "right con / Repub", and the far-right is more mainstream than the far left, most of us only feel we have these two options. I know I felt that way for a while. I didn't know what actual 'leftism' (anti-capitalism) meant as opposed to liberalism up until Bernie said "democratic socialist" on TV.

We only hear vague ramblings of antifa, but not enough about who they're made up of and what they believe in, other than that one 20/20 documentary on ABC a while back post-Charlottesville with that one girl who said she's anarchist.

Socialism isn't mainstream and any time it gets talked about bar a couple of articles and those Extremely Online commenting, people keep brushing it off as silliness. I mean, people really think "socialist liberal Democrats" is a thing.

And, well, it wouldn't mean something good for Kanye, considering his business adventures and his wealth.

Kanye don’t care about anything else at this point except himself and his family now.

His dad was a Black Panther, wonder what he thinks about this....

  21. I feel like once he saw how much attention his Candace Owens tweet got he decided to double down and do this bull shit

  23. Yes.

And on another note since I've been frustrated about this for years: in terms of operating in the system that exists: the reality is that state and local politicians were ALWAYS gonna be who folks should look to in terms of improving local and state situations. That isn't to say the president doesn't matter (they most certainly do, especially when their favorite activity seems to be actively making things worse for their non-male, non-wealthy, black, brown, non-Christian, LGBTQ, the list goes on... citizens) and this particular point isn't even about Kanye specifically but as someone who grew up with parents that worked in local government, it just doesn't make sense to expect the federal government to make any kind of real, discernible impact on the day-to-day in local life.

Federal law, that's about it. Tangent over.

I have trouble with wanting to ignore Kanye now and not feed the beast, because he admits himself controversy and attention are partially what he wants, but also deconstructing exactly why each new thing he says or does is bad and making it known that this shit is bad for anyone who might need to hear/see it
